La-Mulana is bullshit, but at least it is expected. This game here, on the other hand, looks like a kids game, and then hits you with grim plot and hard puzzles.

is the sequel dead? they released the demo years ago.

he probably means that most people needed a guide to figure out how the fuck to access DLC and some of the optional areas - so in that sense, to "complete" the game you probably need a guide

my pet peeve with La-Mulana is how in some rooms youd have really annoying hard to hit enemies that would chip away at you while you were trying to solve a puzzle
it didnt ruin the game for me but it was frustrating

After beating the first 4 bosses, the snake, the giant, the fish, and the lizard the game becomes so unusually structured that you sometimes need to use stone tablets in the 2nd or 3rd area to answer a puzzle in the 8th or 9th area and how are you supposed to make that connection?

100%'d it without a guide.
I remember a few years ago seeing the occasional thread pop up with some anon shilling it saying it's a better Zelda game, so naturally I played it.
It's certainly a huge game, it's certainly a harder game than any Zelda game but did I find it better? Nah.
The game could have benefited from having some better and more memorable music. I actually can't recall a single track off the top of my head, I really can't. I remember thinking the nightmare sequence music fit the theme and all but I can't remember how it went.

I also remember that I fucking hate the barrel 'puzzle' in which you had to click the switch and guess where the barrel was gonna drop which was completely and utterly RNG based.
I also remember taking a while to figure out the multitude of Ice Block pushing puzzles.

Anyway, try Marrow out you fuccbois. It's a great game and has puzzles in a similar tier as La-Mulana only minus any tablets with text wrote on them.

I don't blame anyone for looking at a guide at a certain point in La Mulana, game is hard as shit and even with meticulous note taking and all that it's still easy to get stuck

It's better to get past a puzzle and move on than to give up the game, really

The very best way to play it is with a friend, though. There's always some things that one person notices or solves that the other doesn't. It's how I first played the game and we only got stuck one or two times.

These days, when I get stuck on a game I try and hold off on searching a guide until I've exhausted all other options. I think La Mulana would be far better and enjoyable if the game just memorized tablets and notes for you. No idea why the shitty limit on the program you actually get in-game that only lets you copy a mere handful.

It would really cut the amount of slog you spend screenshotting or writing down every single tablet you come across, without dumbing down the actual thinking and puzzle solving process.

Simple stuff like
>Tablet text itself (switchable between original and translated once you've met the prerequisites)
>Found area name
>Found room name (assuming you are in possession of map that shows room names)
And maybe even a CTRL+F text search function as well. More time spent on playing the game and puzzle solving with less time wasted on menial copying.

Because most of them are useless, and it's up to the player to deduce which are important to memorize.

It's such a better experience if you go out and buy a notebook to record everything in though. I wrote down glyph text, drew murals, recorded what was for sale and for how much from every store, drew maps of each region, you name it. Every now and again I pull it out and skim through it and it did nothing but enhance the fun I had playing the game because I was able to immerse myself into Indiana Jones simulator just that little bit more.

I "beat" La-Mulana just fine without using a guide.
It's not all that difficult, some parts can just get pretty tedious if you happen to get stuck or miss something obvious but generally speaking almost everything in the game is solved by just exploring a bit more. When I say "beat" I killed Mother and got to the credits, finding and beating Hell Temple is another beast altogether.

I found it to be perfectly beatable; just that you require some cultural knowledge (such as helmet's hint in original's manual just saying "good for training!" and you having to figure out what training means to a Jap).

I think the worst offender though is the door number puzzle in the endless corridor in the original, as if you don't know/remember that then you might find yourself blanked out (like I did). The manual DOES have the answer for this too, but to me it read like flawor text that had no bearing on the game's contents.

It's a super secret area that's purposely bullshit hard to find to reward the people that like the game so much they get immersed into La Mulana's mysteries to an absolutely autistic degree. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having stuff like that.

Are you one of those I PAID THE SAME MONEY AS X SO I DESERVE TO HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE NO MATTER HOW TRASH I AM guys or something?
>>
>>379498206
To be fair the developers fully admit the hell temple is not meant to be a fair challenge, including finding it.

I only managed to beat it "once" (you have to do it three times to get the reward), and I just said fuck to all that noise. The parodius puzzle with its superior tile-based scrolling was very annoying.

>>379496849
