There is not a single Sonic game in existence that is better than it's era-equivalent non-spinoff Mario game.

Sonic has always been the ME TOO younger brother of video games, B-tier at it's absolute best. At it's worst, aka the majority of the games associated with the brand, it's an absolute joke of a franchise.

Not after the 133rd time I've played it, no. Mario World is fun as hell when you first play it. But once you know all the secrets there's very little reason to play it. All of the Sonic games as well as earlier Mario titles are more action-focused and hold up much better on replays.

Sonic has literally not output a game that's anything more than "passable" in the last 23 years. Sonic objectively has far more terrible games with his name on it than good ones. Seriously, like 9 in 10 Sonic games are fucking awful. I love the original Sonic trilogy as much as the next guy, but you gotta be real.

The Sonic franchise is a fucking dumpster fire.

Even at it's lowest points, the worst Mario games are on a whole different plane of existence as far as quality is concerned when compared to the average Sonic game.

What's there not to like? It's a very enjoyable game.
Liked the levels, liked the style, liked the playability.
It's one of the very few games in general where I actually tried to get all achievements and good rankings on all levels. The only thing that kept me from going 100% was the last boss, which I hated a lot.

mario has more than 0 good games, so it wins by default

Mario has more good games than Sonic, but the good games that are from Sonic, I enjoy FAR more then the ones from Mario.


it's really just a quality v quantity thing.

I never enjoyed the rivalry in Mario and Sonic games.

All that "we need to beat Mario because fuck Nintendo" that supposedly went on in Sega (at least in the dev team and in Japan) is fabricated bullshit.

Mario is the elmentary platformer, and always will be. Sonic will be always just a neat spin on it, but not an equal.
