They're both so thematically different but one thing worth pointing out is how good Platinums sound engineering is.
The backtrack effortlessly switches between instrumental, lyric, and retro soundtracks. It feels like theyre really taking advantage of that MGR tech. It seems so effortless but I don't think other games treat their music the same way.

Persona 5 = real music

When I'm fighting Adam&Eve (2 times so far) and last time before entering the castle. Apparently it's some enemy attacks that cause the crashes and dicking around with grafix options in game and in nvidia control panel doesn't help.

Automata's ost is on a different level. The overworld music itself has like 5 versions that seamlessly mix together and can go from feeling mysterious, to adventurous, to sad and contemplative. Not to mention an 8 bit version just for the hacking minigame.

Strangely both P3 and P4 had seasonal music. I remember the Autumn music in P3P being a banger and there being a wintery themed song about snow falling in the winter.
For rain P5 takes out two of the instrument tracks from the song. It sounds nice, but minimal effort.

I had trouble getting into the demo too, but I'm willing to try plowing through it given the repeated changes to the gameplay styles.

The combat seems a little shallower to me, but again I just played the demo so far so I'm sure there are different combos or moves in the full game (not to mention the other characters you can play). I LOVE the dodge animations though.

Not true. For instance, the field themes from the previous games are great with multiple ones playing at different types of days. While 5 just has the same few ones, and the only stand out track is beneath the mask. It has a lot less variety so a lot of the music clashes together and feels samey.

Automata OST wasn't unique like Nier's originally was it just rode off the Hype wave. Nothing interesting.
Persona actually took ton of inspiration from things like jazz and artist like Jamiroquai.

Massive NieR fan and I can't agree. I will say that Song of the Ancients is timeless and can not be surpassed, so that's a massive plus for NieR. Automata, as a whole, was better for me.

Weight of the World is simply thematically better as it's a part of a narrative with japanese version hinting at concert ending, it's also an extremely hopeful and uplifting in End of YoRHa version and it's integrated into the game way better as E ending is a beautiful catharsis of the entire game.

I think I kind of liked the new rendition of tracks like song of the ancients and Emil's theme less than the originals because their instrumental versions were overused.

No. You'll miss some emotional moments from 1 character's sidequest chain, and you'll spoil the plot twist from NieR in case you ever want to go back for that, but it does explain the important bits when it needs to.

I would say Yoko Taro's stageplay is more essential reading than the original NieR.
