When was the last time a video game made you cry?

Last week, Nier Automata.

NieR:Automata Ending E hit me really hard, but I'm too old and experienced to cry over fictional things.

it's fake
i don't cry when people close to me die or even when I have emotional breakdowns. The only times I've teared up from true heartbreak is from episodes ofnarutoeven as a full grown man
I usually tear up at the end of Zelda games for the world that I'm leaving behind, especially as I take the time to 100% most titles.
I didn't tear up at the end of BotW, but the game overall made me tear up more than any other game I've ever played. I, a grown man who generally doesn't cry over media, freely cried the entire time I was getting the Master Sword because as soon as I got into the woods I realised what was about to happen.
Same thing when I found Zelda's room in Hyrule Castle. Same thing with that incredible line in the ending ofCourage need not be remembered, for it is never forgotten. That was the only time I teared up during a cutscene since the story in BotW was fucking garbage. Most of my moments of emotion with BotW came from the gameplay itself. Spontaneously seeing Din coming down the ravine at night. Figuring out the metal doors in Hebra. Finally defeating that Hinox on Eventide. Realising I could let dogs lead me to treasure. Coming back to the cabin on the great plateau after all is said and done. Hearing Kass's song in the distance.
People bitch about the use of music in this game, but the little hint of the Hyrule Field theme while riding a horse, or the strains of Dragon Roost Island in Rito Village, made me misty-eyed. I thought that the occasional piano would be annoying but by the end of the game it gave me such sentimentality whenever I heard it.
Call me a faggot but BotW's world touched me in a way that I haven't felt in a very long time. Fuck the godawful story though and the champions with one personality trait apiece.

>be anon
>enter thread with BotW opening pic asking what video games made people cry
>be surprised that someone else, seeing the BotW OP pic, would describe his experiences with the game in question making him cry
>be so cynical and self-absorbed that I cannot comprehend someone enjoying a game I don't like
>call him a shill

fuck you that ending was sad
Un-ironically teared up a bit at the end of Undertale. That being said I also cried a bit after a particular boss in Darkest Dungeon.

Transistor. That ending
DDR, some sweat got into my eyes after playing a bit too much and it fucking hurts

I'm a crybaby usually but most video games I don't care much about the characters so I can't cry.
Nier Automata pretty much the only game I can really remember doing it. It's one of the few games where they built character well.
