I've only played RE, so I can only imagine how bad the original is, but RE itself was atrocious. Steel on bone is the worst gameplay mechanic in an action game to date, the incredibly inconsistent dodge/blocking of enemies with no mechanic for circumventing or countering it makes landing combos left purely to chance, quick time events, horrible bosses, etc. The list goes on and on with the amount of problems the game has.

I fucking hate all the assholes you claimed Razor's Edge was good, because I bought it cheap later expecting something at least decent. I was blown away by how shit it was. Besides core problems that just made it not as fun as 1 or 2, the fucking QTEs show exactly why Itagaki just did cinematics instead. The stupid "climb the wall" mechanic was embarrassingly bad as well, and made worse because sometimes they'd just let you do the repeated wall jumps to ascend, just to remind you how much better that feels. The few bosses I could be bothered to fight were trash, no fun or interesting elements at all. I would have probably enjoyed it more if all the DOA girl stages were just unlocked from the beginning, but I think I'd have to go through more of the game to unlock them all, and I didn't care. I stopped playing it, popped in Black just to be sure I wasn't remembering things wrong. Nope, Black was MUCH BETTER in every aspect.

I sold Razor's Edge and I hope no one else on /v/ ever gets tricked into wasting money on it.
