>Have never actually played Yume Nikki because I thought it was 2spooky
Should I?
>>379479039
are you an autist? if not, you will laugh at thinking you should have been afraid
>>379479039
Play you fucking boipucci.
>>379479039
It's less spooky and more draining. There's some eerie and bizarre shit though
The only worlds that spooked me were the Mall and the Sewers, mostly because of the OST and Big fucking Red.

are you a kid? if not, you will laugh at thinking you should have been afraid
Its not spooky its comfy
>>379479039
It's not really spooky, more like unsettling.
There are like 3 instances of actually unexpected scary stuff the entire game and you probably won't even find them without a guide, which kinda takes "unexpected" out of it.
play it for best girl

if you don't find the novelty of the whacky dreamscapes interesting you wont like it

>2spooky
More like 2boring

uninstalled shortly after, I can't believe people love this game, I get it, it's a "meta" game and fuck does it sucks because of it

>her
>>379484701
Well, you DID get weirded out and disturbed, the fuck are you complaining about?

>>379484701
>a meta game
wut, its a dream simulator similar to LSD more than a game
It's barely a game.
>>379485450
It's got more "game" elements than Telltale games
>this game sucks
no.
Is it hard ? is it linear ?
How does it compare to Lisa the first ?
>>379486109
C'mon, that's a pretty shitty standard to set gameplay quality on.
>>379479039
Go in blind, try it
well, blind except for the knowledge that once you get a bike, you can sit in the chair in your dreamroom, open the menu, equip the bike in the chair, then get off the chair to have sanicspeed and be able to get to deep dreamscapes without a shitload of plip plip plip plip walking for minutes on end.
>>379487968
It is the most non-linear and non-hard a game can be. There is no "lose" state, beyond like a half dozen forced dreamquits that are all either uncommon or so exceedingly rare and unique there's not a chance in hell you'll find them without a guide.
And indeed, without a guide, you'll likely not finish it. Which is just as well, the "finished" state of Yume Nikki is kinda the weakest part of the whole thing. Go in, look around on your own, if you find you no longer know where weird shit might be bust open the wiki and start retracing routes you know by clicking on room articles and their listed connections until you find a place you haven't gone to.
>>379488239
How long does it take to complete it with a guide ?
>>379488745
With a guide?
Fucking fast
The game is a labyrinth. If you've got the map, those aren't hard.
>>379479039
she suicides
the end
>>379488745
Maybe an hour if you use the speed glitch. But it's a shit way to play it since you'll miss like 2/3 of areas and most of the ambience, which is the strongest part of the game.
Are there any games with this aesthetic but not boring as fuck?
I really tried to get into it but I just couldn't. I dropped it after the first half an hour
>>379488239
>non-hard
Depends on the definition of "hard".
Yes, it's impossible to die or lose more than a couple minutes of progress, but getting to the end on your own without a guide is near-impossible.
I'm making a yume nikki fangame
what features would you like to see in it?
>>379491818
Are you a time traveler from 10 years ago?
>>379491818
The game uninstalls the second you launch it
Its one of the best games of all time.
Play it super late at night.
The game actually felt relaxing to me, I can't even explain why.
It's like I was at peace with all my negative feelings.
>>379484701
sadly the YN fanbase is like this, its full of pretentious and unoriginal people who are very impressionable
>>379481603
Considering the game takes place in her dreams I'd say we learn quite a lot about her
>>379491818
Stick the speed item somewhere convenient.
Focus on filling areas with dense content before you make another 400 giant wide open fields.

I second this

>locking simple QoL improvements behind hidden upgrades
Come on, you know the walk speed in these games doesn't cut it given how sprawling they are.
It's especially apparent when everyone always suggests the chair glitch to move even faster than what the bike allows you to do.
>>379494286
Thanks
>>379479039
It's hardly even a game, it's been like 10 years since it became "hip" on the 'chan and I still haven't bothered to play more than an hour of it because all you do is wander around slowly in weird confusing areas. It's basically LSD except even less playable.
>>379484701
>Meta
A meta game is some shit like Spec Ops or Undertale. YN is in leagues with games like LSD
How should one play it anyway? I roamed for two hours or so but then stopped
>>379496091
Walk in one direction and when you hit an object or landmark, change direction and repeat. Making a basic map with pen and paper can be helpful. Also the areas aren't as big as they seem. If you pay attention, you can easily see where the environment starts looping.
>>379496091
You play it the same way you play a maze.
