Just the general changes to the setting. The first one tried to be a fantastical version of Victorian England. You could really see it in the universe they created full of plagues, terrible life conditions murder and prostitution.
The second one turned it into a leftwing propaganda version with no prostitution but "strong wyman" elite guards instead. The overall story is also very women centric. Most powerful and important characters are either gay or female and almost none of them are white men which is very clashing with the original game and the Victorian setting.

If you're still having issues with performance on PC, I recommend these settings:

Every NPC in the game is assigned a moral value. There is a chaos meter that builds as your progress each level. You can use a magical heart to hear whether each character has done very bad things in the past or not in the form of a short story. If they have, killing them will build very little chaos. Nearly all powers Corvo had in Dishonored 1 are more powerful or can become more powerful in DH 1. You have far more upgrades available, and in NG+ you even get access to Emily's powers, so if you're not playing on higher difficulties during an NG+ the power-trip is insane.
