From my experience, it's really hard to recommend games to someone who has been locked into one genre.

I suggest you make a list of genres and take several prominent titles for each. Watch a couple of minutes of a youtube LP, maybe you'll like what you see.

If you seek non-actiony challenge, you could go for strategy games (Crusader Kings 2), 4X (Master of Orion 1/2, Master of Magic), tactical games (Openxcom), classic RPGs (Pool of Radiance, Ultima IV or VII, Wizardry VI or VIII, more casual Might&Magic 4+5 or 6, even Infinity Engine games like Icewind Dale could be a good start). Oh, Sierra/Lucas Arts games can be insanely fun and challenging (but with ad hoc solutions) - maybe Monkey Island or Quest of Glory could work for you. Citybuilders and sandboxes, from Pharaoh and SimCity4 to Anno series and Rimworld and Prison Architect. You might even like SpaceChem and TIS-100, who knows!

I am not well-versed in console games, though. FF: Tactics and Disgaea? Etryan Odyssey maybe? I don't know.
