Granted, Im the worst person to ask, because I remember playing once at a friend place the first soul reaver.

Saw Nosgoth gameplay and stuff, and I didnt knew it was related to LoK lore at all.
It was a spin off, saying "lets pick a random moment in time that affect nothing at all, have fun"

Just played soul reaver from steam, and saw the first LoK game "movie", and its everything pretty great, but just because they spend 5 bucks in a multiplayer game, that doesnt mean that would stop a multi million AAA game from being made if there was really interest.

The first time Raziel meets Kain, the bossfight where you get the reaver, the back and forth between them is pretty great. Raziel's still basically just come back to life and he is mad as fuck.

As to who is Denis Dyack. Dyack was designer at Silicon knights and - according to him - creator of original Blood Omen. But since the franchise belonged to publisher, Eidos, they took a new IP Soul Reaver developed at Crystal dynamics by Amy Hennig and made CD tie it into LoK franchise. From that point Amy wrote SR2 and Defiance, and their B-team made Blood Omen 2. And since the series is mostly taken as a whole, people usually see it as Amy's child, while Dyack is largely disregarded, despite giving the start to it.

At least Loghain had good reasons to be mad at the Orlesians. They raped and killed his mother, killed his father, tortured his people for years, ruled Ferelden with an iron fist, and Empress Celene even asked Cailan to forget about Anora and marry her to "unify" the two countries.

Kain is a (lovable) asshole who doesn't give a shit about anyone, he kills indiscriminately even at the battle against the Nemesis with King Ottmar, doesn't have any ties, doesn't respect his elders (Vorador). He only seems to care for Raziel to a certain extent, especially at the end and during his empire, when he treated him like his favorite child.
