I'm surprised there wasn't any R34 of her considering the model during the cut scenes was really high quality - maybe it wasn't in the game files because the scenes were pre-rendered.
>>
>>379456527
At least she didnt have an ASS OF A 10 YEAR OLD BOY

About to do a nightmare run for the first time lads. Any tips?
>>
Some one post pics of both Ripley's they're great.l
>>
>>379458598
I remember seeing a rotation of her render at one point for cosplay reference.

One can't help but wonder where she got all that ass from, because it sure as hell wasn't hereditary.
>>
>>379458694
Did Ellen marry anyone in the movies? I cant remember anymore.
>>
>>379456527
I couldn't handle this game, not even in bright daylight. And I fucking love Alien since I first watched it as a 9 year old.
>>
>>379458946
I think she had an ex-husband.
>>
>>379458946
No, buy she banged a droid, a convict, and finally a xeno.
>>
>>379458761
Don't do it.

It's just plain unfair. The alien in particular can detect you in hiding 9/10 times, for no better reason than because fuck you.
>>
>>379458761
Yeah I gotta few:

>Dont run ever. Crouch walk as much as you can. But dont be a retard either, when you need to move fast walk only.
>Forget the flamethrower even exists until Mission 14
>Almost every weapon including EMP charges are useless on the droids so just avoid them if you can
>As it says on the poster, the MT is useless so forget about it as well
>Dont use the same technique again and again to distract the xeno. It actually learns your distractions in nightmare mode.
>Collect everything. Theyre not kidding when it they say resources are scarce.
>Flashbangs are useless so dont use

Having a good knowledge Sevastopol would also be a good idea since the map is disabled.
>>
>>379459257
Dont listen to this guy. It is doable just not a full no-death run (although thats probably possible as well since theyre so many playthroughs on youtube). Also most of these tips are sound >>379459375
>>
>>379459257
You probably repeated the same tactics too much and it figured out your bullshit. The AI will adapt faster and start checking lockers if you use them as your go-to hiding spots all the time.
>>
I saw the new movie in the theater

I fucking loved it, i had never seen any of the aliens movies, i only knew about them from cultural references.

now I want to play this game, but it looks too much like a point and click simulator
>>
>>379458761
I have an ACTUAL useful tip. When you have to hide and the only option is a table, dont hide under it. Instead hide BEHIND it. For some reason (i suspect a bug) the alien cant see you over tables. Which is fucking weird. On nightmare mode.
>>
>>379459662
Well it sure as hell isn't point and click, don't even know how you assumed that.

As for the game itself, it's a straight up survival horror. Thankfully, you get some weapons to use (unlike things like Outlast), granted they're only useful for dispatching the hostile humans and slowing down the androids.

Of course, you should never use the guns unless you want the alien to come in and help kill you faster.

the alien will always find you if you just sit and watch it from your hiding place, waiting for it to fuck off. You gotta grow some balls and keep moving whenever the alien isn't looking. Stay away from lockers

When you see that it is climbing into a vent is a perfect time to get some distance, because it is locked into the animation of climbing up and it can't just immediately teleport back down and start chasing you again
>>
>>379459375

>>379459257

this is what so many people get wrong and end up being frustrated about.
this game is NOT outlast. the lockers are there to bait you. they are the worst way to hide from the alien.

>opening and shutting lockers attract the alien
>sitting in the same locker will get you killed 100%
>the alien will start checking them if you use them too often

you're supposed to play it fast and loose, hiding under tables, behind tables, just barely out of his line of sight, that sort of shit

All the locals are uneducated, illiterate, have no sense of common decency, greasy, fat and smell like shit. The prices are ludicrous ($7 for a box of cereal that would $3 max on the main land), none of the places have AC despite it being 80+ year fucking round, the price you pay to rent a shit apartment you could be buying a decent house, shipping out here is stupid expensive, selection is extremely limited, traffic is god fucking awful and anything worth doing can be done in less than a week and it's full of filthy chinks.

You can sprint basically every robot section and fast-walk both tiers of Medical. There are only a few areas where you should crouch-walk.

>Forget the flamethrower even exists until Mission 14.
Sprinting an entire area in exchange for a short burst of the flamethrower is a worthwhile exchange.

Didnt have that experience the first time. Might do another play and test this out. Because honestly I have chucked an EMP straight at a droid with no effect.

>You can sprint basically every robot section and fast-walk both tiers of Medical. There are only a few areas where you should crouch-walk.

>Sprinting an entire area in exchange for a short burst of the flamethrower is a worthwhile exchange.

blast the working joe in the face with the shotgun at point blank and then immediately smash him with the wrench. Kills him every time.

if you don't have the shotgun yet, use the stun baton and just keep whacking him with the wrench while he's spasming.

If you don't have the stun baton yet, just juke him around a table and avoid him. All the other weapons are wasted on them because they are so resilient. Maybe use pipe bombs if you can hit multiple joes at the same time

Why is the EMP grenade useless on nightmare mode? You're saying throwing one at a working joe will not make it short out, despite the huge amount of resources you have to commit to making an EMP? Does the stun baton still make them short out, or do they just all become immune to it and ultra resilient, like the hazmat joes on hard mode?
>>
>>379462776
>You're saying throwing one at a working joe will not make it short out, despite the huge amount of resources you have to commit to making an EMP?
Yep. EMPs are good for a distraction only in nightmare. Joes dont short out. In fact they probably get more aggressive.

>Does the stun baton still make them short out, or do they just all become immune to it and ultra resilient, like the hazmat joes on hard mode?
I havent tried using the baton on nightmare. Id assume if EMPs dont do shit then it would be the same with batons. Best just to avoid them (joes) completely.

>>opening and shutting lockers attract the alien

But that's plain wrong. Some sounds that may seem like they would attract the alien do, in fact, not because you cannot avoid making them as they are sort of "integrated" in the animation used when performing certain actions (like Amanda smashing the locker door when closing, or dropping metal plates after using the blowtorch).
>>
>>379473549
Not the guy you're responding to.
You are correct, some of the sounds are misleading. Especially violently beating someone to death with the wrench. Sounds awfully noisy but is actually a stealth kill.

Lockers are still much worse of a hiding spot than tables are.

>Extremly limited view
>Due to the inability to turn around, limited view on the motion tracker
>Motion tracker beeps attract nearby foes to the locker
>Still-standing foes outside of the range of the player's view will be 'invisible' to the player
>No second exit point unlike many tables who can be entered and exited from more than one side
>Alien only checks lockers when the player is in one
>Hold-your-breath minigame is dangerous
>Can't craft or use items, will exit locker if you accidentally try to
>If you've been noticed by human foes or the alien, you are most likely dead as you can not use any of your weapons to protect yourself
>Can't throw items for a distraction
>>

I never understood the logic behind the alien learning hiding places. If you continuously successfully use them to outsmart him how does it work out you were in them after the fact? Wouldn't it have to actually find somebody inside a locker to work out that people hide in them?
>>
Let's see.

The AI has preset behavior patterns that unlock, roughly 108 scripts. Difficulty affect how fast the Xeno will climb the script ladder. You can and should be walking, not crouching. Walking produces zero noise and is needed to get enough distance from the Alien. If you crouch at the medical bay when the tutorial is over, you wil have a hard time.

Anectode but I was trying to get all the logs and I was backtracking to a spot the Alien never appeared on. The area with the crossbow type gun. Well imagine my surprise when it does spawn there, it appeared at the exit just as I was going to call the transist. Then it started spawning all around the crossbolt gun area. I thought that place was safe. Why program the game to have it spawn there, losing a safe area out of the blue is spooky. Granted you'll only go back to get logs but wow, it scared me when I heard it invade my sanctuary.

>>
>>379478150
Why wouldn't it have checked them last time? It is a funny mental image though, the Alien skulking around after you're gone and eventually snapping upright and thinking 'Fuck! She was probably in this locker.'
>>
>>379478150
This. It's not that the alien is magically becoming aware of where you are, it's starting to think about places it usually just sniffed and snarled at.
>>
>>379473549
I'm pretty sure the AI is scripted to go outside your locker and walk around all menacing-like so you can get scared as you look at it through the slits, even if it has no idea you went in there. Then if you make the slightest noise (by not holding your breath / hiding in the furthest back part of the locker) or pull out your motion tracker for a single beep it will come over and kill you as you hide inside it.

It's not worth it to get in unless the alien is turning around and there is nowhere else to go in order to get out of its line of sight
>>
>>379460164
>didn't even bother to explain how the woman figured it out at the end.

>>
>>379473801
>>379478761

Just for the record, I agree that lockers are not the ideal hiding choice and as one understands the game and the alien better, they mostly aren't needed at all.

With my initial post I just wanted to clarify that the shutting sound does not attract the alien (because when I had my first playthrough it struck me as odd she'd smash the doors when trying to hide).

The Flamethrower is significantly less effective and will quickly become even less so you the more you use it. If the Alien is already in full charge at you it will not give a fuck about the flamethrower and kill you. Fuel is also extremely scarce, you should be trying to save as much fuel as you possibly can until the last levels of the game when you'll desperately need it.
Getting shot by a Survivor is liable to kill you instantly, avoid them.
Androids can kill you in a grapple and a half, avoid them as much as possible.
Only use Gadgets when absolutely necessary, resources are scarce, and the Alien adapts to both gadget's and your tactics much faster.
The Alien will not stop to hiss and scream at you when it spots you, it'll just do that while it instantly starts charging at you if it spots you.
It is very rare on Nightmare for the Alien to fuck off to the vents unless it needs to because you went to a different area so it needs to change its pathing. If it ever goes into the vents without you just progressing to another area take full advantage of it because its forced to stay up there for a moment before it can come back down. But do NOT sprint.
Know your environment and where you're going because the map can't help you.
Keep moving as much as you can, the Alien will rarely stop and sniff out one place for long before moving on so your time windows to make a move are even smaller.

Jurassic Park BOOKS were absolutely fantastic.
Michael Crichton was a good author, though his anti science bs grew quite annoying in some of his works.

There's a pretty good chase scene and Charles Dance was pretty based in it.

How does the alien see you from down the hall if it doesn't even have eyes? I always thought in the movies they were blind and went off of sound or something, but in the game it plainly looks around with its head >>379480294

Haven't even played the game but have seen the movies and that sounds like she's getting face fucked which I guess she literally is.

What the fuck is wrong with me for only getting a boner to that now? Is it because we rarely see women get facehugged in the movies? Have I watched way too much porn?

it looks like its teeth are made of metal. How did the xeno grow so huge in the original Alien movie? It went from being a ferret-sized chestburster to the size of Kareem Abdul Jabbar in a matter of hours.

Does it eat steel and minerals and shit from parts of the ship? If so then what does it need to kill people for? Evidently it doesn't need to kill them for their nutrients / to grow, except for when it is a chestburster

Can we lay this as a first playthrough?
I'm down with all the items except the map not working. Does this game mode assume you know where to go?
>>
>>379458761
Nightmare mode is a meme difficulty, you can literally just crouch your way through the game and nobody will disturb you. The only ammo you need to worry about is flamethrower for near the end of the game and that's it. You can avoid 99% of the combat in this game.

One of the novels says she had a husband named Alex. Don't know if it's considered canon, though. They split up 3 years after Amanda was born.

I'm awful at this game and I don't really know why, everyone seems to be having a good time so I'm assuming I'm just playing it wrong, do you have any tips for a new player? I think I got up to chapter 4 or 5

Well no shit everything's expensive or just impossible to get. If you live out in the middle of nowhere, that's what happens. Try living anywhere in Canada besides right along the US border. Shit's the same there, just with less sweating.

There's barely any humans in the game. I actually wish there were more because they were underutilised and getting the alien to kill them is fun.

>>379488947
well I've been crouching through the whole game for now. Though I haven't found a functional way to use the gadgets yet, they seem to work against me most of the time.
Do the collectibles autosave or do I have to get them all over again if I choose to restart a chapter?

Yes he is, but no they didn't have a thing. Beside her daughter was already born when she was on the ship, 8 years old, I think?

It was the 70s, and no, it was just Sigourney Weaver's build. She's very tall and skinny.
>>
>>379489142
You need to walk alot more as well. Keeping distance between you and the ayy is most important. Also dont worry about the gadgets too much. Concentrate more on sneaking past. And collectables are autosaved I think.

>>
>>379481612
That's not why she shaves her head and you damn well know it
>>
>>379481892
It doesn't. There's plenty of evidence that the Alien can't see you like a Joe or a human can. It has different senses that allow it to detect you, but you can often hide 'in plain sight', as long as you're not completely out in the open, and it won't notice you. It seems like it uses a radar/sonar combination. If you're crouched next to a desk but otherwise 'visible', it often misses you.
>>
>>379489803
It was two split-second scenes right at the end, and the intent was to make her seem even more vulnerable during the final showdown. What are you on about?

You can see the map on Nightmare by going to any box where you can reroute the power.

And they aren't scarce. At least not enough for my liking. I was always full up on shit while playing Nightmare.

>>379457594
Ripley had a full character model during gameplay if I am remembering right, originally the game might have been 3rd person and if the player cheats the camera into 3rd person they can see she's fully there while playing and isn't just a walking pair of legs with floating arms like some fps games.

Because a lot of stuff that happens is fucking retarded.

>We've done all sorts of tests on these creatures.
>But we don't know about the acid blood.
>Or don't care to protect against it.
Genius.

That said, there were some really memorable parts.
>Getting chased by ayy lmaos underwater.
>The guy getting rusecruised by the trail of guns.
>The mutant getting sucked out the window.
I really disliked the "Kill me" scene though.

That's the entire series though. They just change the setting. 3 was the only one where she doesn't kill it by ejecting it into space.

in the game, it definitely behaves like it has a cone of vision. It only wont detect you if you're crouched next to a desk so long as that desk is at least partially blocking its vision. When I first played, I assumed that it was blind and it went off sound, so I tried just crouching next to a desk when it was way, way across the hall, but it would turn around and instantly spot me because I was exposed to its "line of sight." As it turns out, the Alien has shitty hearing and wont hear you if you stand up and sneak-walk full speed as long as it isn't pointing its eyeless head at you.
