DotA 2 is less accessible. It's boring shite.

It released first (Before 2). People were invested into League through skin purchases and didn't want to let go.
Dota is significantly more complicated, League is a much easier to digest and learn.
Dota has no streaming personalities aside from a handful (that speak English), as most of their pro players who would stream are otherwise practicing for cash prize LANs way more often than League players.

Can you imagine if Blizzard had made Dota it's own game? It literally would have changed video games drastically as League's f2p model wouldn't be anywhere as popular.

"Difficulty" is fucking irrelevant in a competitive game unless it's so simple that there's no gap between top players, like in Hearthstone. League snd DotA both have higher skill ceilings than pros can reach, so that's a stupid argument to begin with.

The one thing DotA has that retards mistake for "difficulty" is a higher barrier to entry. Which is not a good thing.

I loved playing WC3 DotA with friends and on garena, but something got lost in translation to DotA 2. Is it still DotA? Yeah, but it's not the same.

I feel like a hostage when I que without a stack of friends. If I get the wrong player I'm literally held at gunpoint for 60m while they ruin my life. Why would I want to play that?

I don't play LoL but I've been told its got short games which isn't necessarily a good thing, but half of DotA is boring ass PvE farming and there's generally only a few big fights in pub games.

I started playing HotS and really love that because most of the game is brawling, and there's less fighting NPCs. I wish DotA were more like that.

Once you pass the steep learning curve of Dota, if you're still in the lower ranks of competitive play, you should legitimately either uninstall or just kill yourself.

League has a the whole "deceptively simple" thing going for it. Champions, mechanics, and objectives are easy enough to play and execute, but there is far more in terms of meta-game and micro/macro knowledge.

Not really, I find it easier to babbysit a carry in Dota 2 since there are few of mobility items that can decrease the retardation of whatever wrong hero they picked

there is no one way to approach dota you actually have to think about what youre doing
in terms of lane set up in lol every game is the same 1 top 1 mid 1 jg then adc+supp bot for both teams. in terms of drafting you just pick the highest tier champs because champs in same role do similar things so you just pick the one with better stats. you dont need to think at all since its a formula set out by riot
lanes in dota have many varieties for different situations. offensive/defensive trilanes, duo mid, duo top and bot with 1 mid, one in each lane with duo roaming supports and many more combinations.
drafting is another strategic battle in itself. you can run an illusion slow siege strat like OG, early game fast tempo push like navi with their enchantress/chen, armor reduction strat with slardar and venge and hundreds more strats depending on how you want to play.
these are just 2 examples but overall in terms of macro and micro dota shits on league coming from a guy that played both
people nowadays dont want to use their brains and just have everything spoonfed by them and follow a set formula
