I've been to live boxing matches/concertd etc. it doesn't bother me if someone watches it after the fight or tour is over.

As far as cut content, not so much the play, tjat wouldn't work as a game outside of a VN, but the novellias definately flesh the 2B character a lot more than the game.

No. 9 got to close to uncovering the conspiracy, so he ordered No. 2 to kill him.

However, as he was really a perfect Scanner, his model was used as the template for S-units. Hence, 9S.

After Pear Harbor, No. 2 was determined to be an excelent template for Battle Robots. Thus, her designation was 2B.

YoRHa records demonstrated that No. 2 was effective at silencing No. 9 units, this they were paired off.

The counter argument would be that in the game you only see 2B "kill" 9S twice (once via black box and jen the love-strangle). You hear that there were others, but that is vastly different than the multitude of murder scenarios that exist in supplimentary material.

As morbid as it sounds, there is a genuine character growth that developes out of the murder cycle; from fearful hesitation of the first kill, through the almost cat-mouse play, through the period of gross-indifference through her realization ending with her pretty much breaking down mid-kill to cry in remorse.

Same goes with A2. In the game you hear about how YoRHa fucked her over, but it's not the same as watching her stuck on Earth, negging for backup to arrive and having her request for assistance be denied as everyone around her dies.

Honestly, I'm not sure. Atmosphere and thematics wise I don't think there is something similar. From another point view, the point of those games is putting on vydia the vision of the director while still being easily accessible and entertaining, so some other series that have a heavy imprint of the director could be your cup of tea, things like Ueda's games and MGS2, but you probably already played them. There is also Pathologic, but it's neither easily accessible or entertaining, it's a completely different kind of experience.

I'm liking it since the main game has a only a small handful of contents to play as A2 and the dlc gave me an excuse to have fun as her and with the lv 4 weapons, but it's clearly overprised. If you want to have some extra fun with the combat like me, I'd say go for it, the combat works better in arenas like those than in the open world.

She has few gameplay contents as well, even the final ball bosses were pretty crappy (fighting 9s was pretty fun, though). You can't even play previous unfinished quests as her, or exploring previous areas since hacking is often necessary for the extra chests.
Not putting in the game all those important story contents related to 2B and 9S was also a terrible idea, if not the worst offender of the bunch.

Let's not start with the usual /v/ retarded hyperboles that only make your point sound like a joke.
The sort of bosses rush at the end of route A was fine, it didn't had complex mechanics but it used the basic mechanic of the game well enough to be fun enough. The ball boss in factory with dim light was fine as well, fighting 9s/a2 at the end was fun.
9S has sort of hacking boss part that was pretty interesting and showed that hacking can be used in more complex levels, forgot at which point but it was in a huge as fuck round hacking "arena".
The real offenders were the crappy final balls, which would have been fine as forgettable midbosses, not as the final bosses of the route. The rabbit was also indefensible, secret boss with a moveset simpler than the weakest enemies, what the hell.

Mileage may vary. The novellas are literally a serries of fragmented scripts, akin to the regular game dialogue: brief, repititious pieces of conversation that convey massive amounts of emotional impact as minimalisticly as possible.

People expecting narative "story books" would be confused esspecially if they arn't familliar with 4-column 9-page Jap-Lit.

The Stage Play has a story akin to Platoon set to J-Pop staring Kwaii girls in military gear acting tsundre/yandre etc. while philosophizing on the meaning/meaninglessness of combat and warfare.

The Concert is an operatic version of the game soundtrack and is more emotionally devistating than the game itself.

In addition to the Stage Play and Concert, there are like 3 or 4 mini-novels, that read like scripts but tell short stories about 9S and 2B's life together.

One was the two of them exploring a sunken apparment building in the desert like children pretending to be Indiana Jones.

Another is just the 2 of them ditching a routine recon mission to go fishing in the City Ruins.

The running theme is they are childhood friends/unrequoted lovers, goung on adventures with on another, all ending with 2B having to kill 9S at the worst possible time.
