why don't video games look like this anymore?
>>379443372
because instead of that we can pay the same price for a digital licence

Why own the right to Re-sell your property when you could just rent the game forever on steam?
>>379444119
I agree.
But I can do nothing.
Importing would cost more than twice.
>tfw you want to make video games but don't know how to design circuits

lithography got better.
Now its easier make smaller and cheaper stuff.
>>379443372
limits on ram exceeded rom years ago
>>379444387
Nintendo was the one that designed the cartridges, you just sent them the code and they would take care of it for you.
>>379443372
You mean why don't they come on ROM chips anymore? Because we have much larger forms of non-volatile storage now that are superior and don't require a battery backup.
>>379443372
>paying 90%of the game price for the physical materials

Enjoy your saves being wiped out by a dead battery.
Don't bother checking your carts. They're already gone.

Digital. The illusion that you own games but actually don't. It also saved them the trouble of making things like manuals and inserts.
Remember how fun it was to read stuff that came with the games?
>>379445814

stop this
New games suck anyway. No loss.
Just play the old ones as you should already be doing.
Why does /v/ care about physical when everyone pirates
If we would move to solid state for our gaming needs we could easily make bigger more seamless worlds with the right "console configurations" but that is madness I am typing here because the cost to accomplish such hardware would easily outweigh the profit at this moment and time.
>>379443372
wow you can actually see where the video and game are stored respectively
>>379443372
They do, though.On the switch
>>379443372
Bluray costs pennies to press and create. 32GB/64GB of flash memory is a hundred times more expensive.
>>379445940
Not that anon, but those double-spaced short lines are very characteristic of reddit. IIRC you had to put a blank line in between paragraphs or they got mushed into a single one on reddit. Could be wrong though since I haven't used the site since 2011.
>>379446540
That is why why we call it reddit spacing, yes.

You're a funny guy
>>379446512
It's not just flash memory, those old carts had their own processors and shit on them.

Go back.

Nice explanation.
Unfortunately the answer is: You have autism.
And I don't

taking full advantage
of it.
>>379446729
OPs image doesn't have any processors, only certain games like Star Fox or Virtua Racing had enhancement chips.
Why don't we live in caves and hunt with sticks anymore?
>>379447236
Were not black.
>>379443372
Been a while the consoles simply don't have the bandwidth to have anything useful in the cartridge.
Even the switch with its glorious five differential signaling pairs probably can only give 1-2 GB/s tops with those pins.
>>379443372
Because you let Sony win by voting with your wallet instead of following Nintendo's reign
