Half the fun of BotW is saying "I wonder what's over this hill" and finding out for yourself. Why the fuck would you want to remove that aspect in favor of what's essentially a glorified checklist of to-do items?
>>
>>379437616
no, they're better because they actually have variation between towers, most towers require some minor puzzle to actually reach. They're also not required (apart from the first one tutorial purposes on the plateau)

If anything, BotW's towers are more useful than more generic open world towers. Alongside filling in your map and showing you whatever interesting geographical areas exist (and not flooding you with several dozen markers), they also act as an easily reachable high place for you to jump off and paraglide to any points of interest nearby.

If there's any real thing to take away from the most useful function of towers, it's that more games need paragliders. It fucking rocks.

>shrines don't count as content because I say so

The only shrines that don't give you something to do inside (IE blessing shrines) always involve a quest or puzzle to get inside in the first place, like Eventide Island or the Labyrinths. That's not to mention that you can also find minibosses, NPCs, the dragons, villages, and tons of other cool shit. Listing off the two most abundant pieces of content doesn't mean there's suddenly nothing else to do.

No, that's the problem. Your standard Ubisoft tower is TOO useful with all of the little "Important thing here" icons it adds. Breath of the Wild's just has the map layout and general location names and still leaves it up to you to explore, and I think other open-world games could follow suit at least on that end.

You have to manage your stamina in BoTW. It's the only thing that restricts you from climbing anything. In AC, you follow pre-mapped windows and ledges, and the lack of windows or ledges is your restriction.

>Gets upset when people rebuke him
Do you have a problem with what's in the video? I think it does a good job explaining why the towers are good.
>>
>>379440040
In both the Assassin's Creed series and Breath of the Wild, the player is encouraged to climb to the top of a large structure (tall buildings for AC, Sheikah Towers for BotW) so they can fill in their map with useful information of the surrounding area. Before that, their map will be blank, so the towers serve as a way for the players to get information one chunk at a time.

There are some differences in how the towers are handled, but they both share a very similar purpose.

The thing is. Towers in BotW are actually more useful, while simultaneously spoon feeding you less.

The main difference with BotW is that there's incentive to climb towers even if they didn't do anything at all. Simply for being tall vantage points to look around and glide from.
The glider alone makes them fun and worthwhile.

I never found anything I couldn't get to the top of with just the basic unupgraded stamina. There's generally breaks in the terrain that you can use to make link stand up again because he'll stand on the smallest ledge.

Then eventually you can just use the Rito jump.

Not at all. DaggerfallSetup makes it very easy to install with all the latest patches. It also, optionally, includes some mods and hacks to add to the game.
http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
I'd personally avoid DagSkills (uncapper incorrectly described as a fix) and the unofficial quest packs, but install everything else for the least buggy version of Daggerfall you can get, which is still extremely fucking buggy but that's Bethesda for you.

>>379441289
The dungeons are admittedly my favorite part of the game, but there's still some fun stuff to do outside of them. The faction reputation system is surprisingly complex but you wouldn't know it from casually playing the game, as there is no way whatsoever to gauge your reputation without third-party save editors/viewers. Once I started using DagRep to keep track of them my motivations changes a lot, allowing me to set long-term goals like getting the Orcs to like me enough to send me that Numidium letter, or making it easier and cheaper to summon Daedric Princes by getting in the good graces of the right factions. It also showed each faction's enemies and allies which are likewise not revealed in the game itself but can make a big difference as to who you want to do quests for and when.

Also the guardian tower was easy. You can just use the jump button to get to each ledge and they'll never get a shot off. You don't even have to have upgraded stamina to make it.

But yes I was talking about Tsundere's Gale and how you can bypass everything with it.

Neither Arena nor Daggerfall are especially accessible, but I wouldn't call them too hard to get into either. But if you have trouble maintaining focus in Morrowind then you'll probably have the same problem in Daggerfall, they both are pretty aimless with an emphasis on doing what YOU want rather than following a story. When it comes to Daggerfall's main quest it's not impossible to refuse it entirely, break it, or completely forget about it halfway through because of how long it takes to follow up: you usually get a letter telling you where to go next some weeks or months after completing a prerequisite quest, and sometimes only if your level or reputation with a main character is over some threshold. And that's not even getting into the bugs and save corruption that could break the main quest, although most (not all) of those are patched.

Surprisingly, you might actually find Arena easier to get into as it is more focused on its main quest than any other TES game. There's not a whole lot of side content to explore in Arena and the main quest is the most linear in the series, so you'll never not know what to do next. The only problem is that Arena's... well, I don't want to say it's a bad game because I enjoyed it but there's really not much to it. It's basically just a dungeon crawler in a really big world with an archaic control scheme. Think of it like Ultima Underworld but with towns and much simpler mechanics, but a pretty cool spell-making system if you decide to play a mage.

I'm not making them sound very appealing but that's because I'm not sure if you specifically would enjoy them. They're both free and not too involved to set up, so you could start playing and give them a shot in the next five minutes if you want to. That's the best and only way to know for sure.

>>
>>379443942
For what it's worth that's true of Space Engine as well because it uses a fixed seed.

What's interesting about Daggerfall is that it does NOT use a fixed seed or any seed at all to generate its towns and dungeons: they are fully and explicitly defined in the game files. The game literally does not even have the functionality to generate them if it wanted to.

Still, when it comes to actually playing the game, one which was generated by a computer and then stuffed into a disc like Daggerfall vs. one that is generated in real-time but always generates the same... those two things are indistinguishable. It's a difference in technique, but not in result, so counting one as "cheating" but not the other feels like an arbitrary distinction.
>>
>>379444134
That could be the result of good determinism in the procedural generation algorithm, but that doesn't really matter when you play the game I guess.

Once you reach level 20 or so you'll start finding a ton of daedric weapons and armor on human and orcish enemies which you can sell for tens of thousands of gold a piece. I think the cuirasses could even sell for 100k+. Pretty much the only way to save up enough for daedra summonings, houses, and boats.

No need to worry about weight either since if it's too heavy a sum the merchants are nice enough to pay in bank notes instead of gold.

BotW isn't a climbing simulator. You are not even really climbing anymore once you unlocked Ravioli.

It is because sheika towers don't pin shit on your map like ubisoft games do.

I really love the gold weight mechanic, if only for the usefulness of bank notes. It's kinda weird, using the game to vicariously manage personal finances.
I know almost everyone would find it extremely tedious and unnecessary if it was brought back though.

Bullshit. BOTW puzzle design is so much better than 90% of 3D Zelda

Please stop. You're upsetting the Nintendies.

I used a mod to add it to Morrowind. There are probably ones for Oblivion and Skyrim too.

implying they'll even be phased by all this, it's literally ok when nintendo does it, it's the singular belief that holds their world together
