With cleric stance dancing gone I'm hoping Scholar will remain fun by giving me more room to micromanage my fairy.
That being said in dungeons it will probably be mindnumbingly boring and it wouldn't surprise me if they see a big drop in the amount of players who do dungeons as healer. I will certainly stop doing my roulettes as scholar.

I think the problem with this game's healing, particularly WHM is that because Healers are expected to DPS, there has to be healing downtime

To provide that downtime, heals need to be able to quickly top people off after they've been hurt, so healers can get back to DPSing

Therefore you have lots of high potency, bursty heals, and quite small HP bars.

If the damage was steady but less bursty, and the healing potency was lower - a pure healing class could shine more. But as it stands, where the vast majority of a fights damage comes from 'big aoe in 5 seconds' any healer can just drop some mitigation, pop a couple AOE heals and top everyone off instantly and get back to DPSing

this also really hurts HoTs

I've been a MNK main but I don't really know if I want to continue being one in SB. Not because of potential nerfs or whatever, since I've been playing MNK this whole time despite them not being "meta-viable". I'm sure I'll still outdps like 95% of the playerbase regardless.

I don't know if I want to keep maining MNK because they got barely any changes or improvements to their rotation. I mean when you really look at it:
- Riddle of Fire is just a replacement for Blood for Blood
- Riddle of Earth is just a replacement for Tornado Kick to help preserve stacks during boss ults.
- Earth and Wind Tackle are pointless because you'll be in Fists of Fire 99% of the time.
- Tornado Kick is still useless
- One Ilm Punch is still useless
- Arm of the Destroyer is still crappy
Really, the only changes they received to their base rotation is that Touch of Death is gone, and every now and then you get a free Forbidden Chakra. That's it. I don't know if I want to keep playing what is essentially the same exact rotation (only even simpler) for yet another expansion. But I've been playing it for so long it's hard to give up, even my character appearance is designed to best suit the Monk job and anything else just feels "wrong" somehow.

If we could have gotten just one new attack it might have been fine. Even if it was just making Tornado Kick not shitty.

Why does anyone want to play MNK again? The potency nerfs ruin all MNK had going for it, solo single damage. Now it's supposed to rely on Chakra (shit), Brotherhood and Riddle of Fire? Both have 90s cd and last 15s/20s, and you'd probably only get like 10 Chakras in that 15s netting you just two Forbiddin Chakras (now 250 potency dropped from 320). How is this supposed to make up for your damage nerfs for the rest of the 70seconds? I want to play MNK for consistent damage, if I wanted cyclical burst I'd play DRG. All the other new skills are useless and do not increase damage at all. Literally a waste of 3 potential abilities.

No it's not. The game literally tells you what Return is when you unlock it. Full wipes to important boss fights just aren't canon, but most instances when you use Return is your body instinctively jumping into the Lifestream and popping out in a safer place.
