As someone who actually likes BotW quite a bit, I'd say it's more like a Solid 6/10.

It's a lot of fun, but it just really lacks in the open world. It needed more actual dungeons and content of substance. Things like Korok Seeds are plentiful but they're not "good" content. Collectathons are fine, but after so many ubisoft open world games, I want more than that in my open world.

It dawned on me when I was wondering aimlessly around Hebra that there is absolutely fuck all to do in this game except look for Shrines and Koroks.

I'm not even joking when I say Horizon had more to offer.

Like many others, I also disagree with you. Yeah it does have problems, but only a few:

Which is really good, since I can go on and on all day about the problems with other 3D Zeldas. Aside from the few blemishes it has, it really is a perfect game in all the ways that matters. The game is actually fun when doing the most basic of tasks, like exploring around and fighting random baddies. Many of the other 3D zelda games greatly lacked such attention to this most basic component of gameplay that the original 2D Zelda games nailed decades ago. OoT, for example, is very selective when and where it is actually entertaining to play, even if it is really good at those times.

It's just a shame they didn't also give us the small amount of fun the 3D Zelda games offered, like complex and unique dungeons. BotW would have really been a 10/10 if they did, and hey, maybe next time they will? Next Zelda is going to be an open world to. As it stands, I'm going with the common 9/10 mindset. Maybe an 8.5 at lowest.

Maybe I just don't understand something, but in my view, we've had all major games in the last decade to be complete disappointments with thousands of identical activities with identical rewards and no individual stories at all, and BotW is the first game in a long time to provide a whole bunch of different activities with different stories and, unfortunately, somewhat repetitive rewards (which make sense, becuse collecting enough gives you upgrades as opposed to standard Ubithesda shit). I mean, can't you appreciate the game for the majority that it does well rather than focus on the minority that it did poorly? That's exactly what makes a flawed masterpiece (not trying to say BotW is or is not one).

It had its good moments, and it was a nice change of pace, but the combat gets REALLY trivial once you learn how to parry/perfect dodge
The best part of the game was that island shrine where you had all of your items taken from you, so you had to improvise with unconventional tactics
The korok seeds were just there to pad out the game's length, and you don't even get a proper reward for collecting them all
The voice acting was god-awful for the most part. It would have been better without it
Story was trash
Had a good OST, but not enough tracks
Final boss was WAYYYY too easy
dungeons were too short
Exploring was kinda fun, I guess
The shrines had some really good puzzles but can get repetitive after a while
Not enough weapon types
Side quests/shrine quests were shit most of the time except for stuff like tarrey town
Food/Fish blessing makes it so that you rarely ever die
It's OK. If you like exploring or collecting shit then buy it. Otherwise don't touch it or wait for a sale
