Anyone playing Metal Slug Attack and have some tips? I get stone walled hard by the event ops and the higher ranked battle mode options.

I recently bought Metal Slug XX for my ps2 (yeah yeah I know the anthology exists). Some of the slowdown is annoying but it feels like a solid port.

For my intro to the series I'm digging it. Some of the enemy placements/attacks seem impossible to react to beforehand (really felt this on the mummy level). You jump forward and BAM, a dozen enemies.

Nah game's really not hard. You can get the 1cc in under 10 hours if you put your mind to it. Only tough parts are the level 3 midboss and the last level. Both become pretty easy after a bit of practice though, despite rng.

I've always had a soft spot for the slug copter, those oval shots make me hard.

Much slower than Contra. No infinite ammo besides starting pistol, generally no diagonal shooting, there's no touch damage unless you get ran over by a tank or something. Feels much better to shoot, much more forgiving and more fluid animations/sprite work. Overall game is lighthearted but characters do die gruesomely sometimes but it's mostly comic violence.

It's rife with dark comedy. The gameplay is pretty fun but I think what really stuck with people is its style. It has god tier spritework I've yet to see anywhere else. Despite not saying anything all of the characters (including the POWs and enemy soldiers) have a lot of personality. Def worth paying, doubly so if you've got a buddy.
