So how are they gonna fuck up Smash 4 Switch guys? They've already proven Switch can't get a WiiU game without some fuckery happening.
>Have to withhold Pokken DLC to make the Switch version appealing (It's still 60 dollars for one Pokemon in Japan)
>Have to remove BOTW gamepad features so it isn't better than the Switch version
>Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has fucked balancing and is objectively worse than the WiiU one

My bets for possibilities are on:
>Needing a new gamecube controller adapter that's twice the price or more of the last one
>Replacing gamecube support altogether with stuff like in the OP
>Mix or 3DS and WiiU stages, not all from both, losing good stages in the process while Pacland and that terrible WiiU starfox stage remain
>Unable to retain the entire third party roster.

Good, ditch that shit already, treat the people that still need that shit like smokers and overcharge for it.

Considering Pokken is getting support for the wired gamepads, I'm sure they'll just use the gamecube adapter again and release another wave.

If you know anything about Game Freak you know that they drop support on side games almost immediately. My Pokemon Ranch was supposed to work on all Gen 4 games. Japan got an update for Platinum that never went overseas, and they said fuck it to HGSS.
>>
>>379385754
You can play perfectly fine with the pro controller, stop being a baby.
>>

>>
>>379384078

>>
>>379386546
They should just make an actual d-pad joycon, just change the buttons on the left joycon for a d-pad, or even the stick, I would buy the shit out of that.
>>
>>379386668
i guess but the buttons are just as good. I have a feeling a d-pad would feel a little compressed on the thing.
>>
>>379386749
Maybe, maybe that's why they haven't made it, but it may just be too soon to tell.
>>
>>379386749
>i guess but the buttons are just as good.
Wrong.
>>
>>379387043
why

certainly better than that carousel bullshit we got with the pro controller
>>
>>379387110
Try and play a 2d platformer with 4 face buttons. Go, download an emulator, grab a controller. get a 2d platformer, and map the DPAD to ABXY.

That'll do more than my words can.
>>
>>379387110
The d-pad on the procontrolelr is bad, but I think still better than the buttons.

But really, both options are so bad, I end up using the stick, specially since playing with the buttons is not that similar to playing with the d-pad, so if I change back and forth between portable and docked, I prefer the shitty stick because is familiar.
>>
>>379387293
THIS.God I hate the lack of a dpad so much.
>>
>>379387293
even so, the analogy stick is actually a good middleman ironically enough. I could totally play SMW with the stick standing in for a d-pad

Every time I learn more about the Switch I hope more and more they don't release any games I absolutely have to play on it, because the hardware end of things is atrocious.

I desperately don't want to end up buying one of these things but I can't say no if they announce 5ma5h or 4 with actual new stuff like characters and stages

>analogy stick
>mfw

Analog works for some 2D games because the dev put time into making them that way. It's not even unanimous in the modern day though. Mighty Switch Force is one of the better 2d platformers of the last few years and it has atrocious analog support in 1 2 and all version of the game.

It doesn't work well on pre analog stick games. Thats you having no standards.
>>
>>379385950
peo controller is garbage.
>>
>>379387632
The d-pad is not thaaaaat bad, but is mind boggling how they got such a simple thing wrong, specially when they usually make the best d-pads.
>>
>>379388089
Not thaaaaat bad is pretty fucking bad considering the pricetag on that thing.

My Steam controller has 10 times the functionality and bells and whistles of a Switch Pro controller (The only thing a Switch pro can do that a SC can't is read amiibos) and I got it for 35 dollars new on sale. 50 dollars normally.
>>
>>379387608
Would the Switch even be able to emulate Melee?
>>
>>379388462
There's no native gamecube like with the WiiU. So no, Switch is genuinely not powerful enough to emulate a GC game, it would need to be made from the ground up
>>
>>379388462
Even if it is, some of the most popular games in it need analog triggers, something the Switch doesn't have.
>>
>>379388814
That's what I think is worse than the d-pad on the pro controller.

I dont know, Mario Kart is their flagship racer, and it doesn't need analog triggers. There's really not many other applications for it unless you want to design a game around it ala Mario Sunshine.

Bayonetta and 2 were so fucking good to play on WiiU exactly because of the lack of analog triggers.

Analog triggers are a bit of a meme.

>>
>>379391103
See thats the thing though. I have options, I can just plug in a different controller for a 2D platformer is the stick isn't working great and I can't make the trackpad setup feel right (it's hit and miss, I've had it feel nice for a few 2d games).

The Switches options are the joycon face buttons and a botched dpad on a controller 20 dollars too expensive.

When you're outjewing VALVE, there is a massive problem.

What's up with the balancing in mario kart 8 deluxe? I never paid attention to the stats or played it much on wiiu.
>>
>>379392381
Honestly, you can make a some dpad games work, but not all. I usually bind left and right to the right trackpad, and set it up so each half of the controller is left and right, and the I jump crouch and jump or watever up and down were for the game on a button somewhere.

Overall I'd probably rather just use a dpad at that point (removable parts steam controller 2/pro fucking when), but it's by no means unpleasant.

>Double the items when 8 was already on the edge of being far too itemy
>Add a drifting tier
>Don't change or adapt the courses in any way shape or form for these rather large gameplay changes

I guess nintendo is just trying to make it a game for only ten year olds instead of for all ages.
>>
>>379386114
Do you even play fighting games? You don't need a fight stick and you aren't at a disadvantage without one. Playing pad works just as well, and sometimes better than with a stick. Most people just play with stick because its what they grew up with. If you insist you're at a disadvantage because you use a pro controller you're just retarded.

This makes it so that the people in first second and third have double the items to defend that position and get distance from the rest of the group. And fourth through twelfth is RNGesus takes the wheel because there are too many items for you to have any real input on what place you get.

Yes. Mario Kart needs a balance between player input mattering and items flipping the table on them. If the player isn't doing anything to get the place they got, they won't enjoy themselves.

Player input barely matters in MK8D, it's more of a lottery than a racing game.
