I'm going to have another 7 hour bus trip next week, so it would be nice to have some games to play on the way.

The laptop hardware is less powerful than proper gaming pc:s so lighter games are preferred, but the biggest challenge is finding games that you can play without a proper mouse.

Some good examples this far:

SNES/Sega Genesis emulators
Dwarf Fortress
Cataclysm DDA
Rogue Legacy
Sanctuary RPG
Undertale
Prospector
And as a short joke-game, Norrland was funny the first time I played it.

What would you recommend?
>>
I would recommend a rope OR bleach. Casuals are not allowed among us.

Doom is always good, GBA Emulation offers some awesome games, Advance Wars is an awesome way to spend time on a trip.
>>
>>379377721

Wat? If that's about playing on a laptop, it's only because I can't get my proper PC in the bus with me.

>>379377723

Isn't that mainly mouse-based game? It's a nice game indeed, but playing it on a trackpad/touchscreen would be pretty tedious.

>>379377812

Doom is indeed a good thing to remember, especially with all the mods available for it. I haven't played any GBA games before, so some good ideas are bound to come from that one. Thanks!

Keep the ideas coming.
>>
>>379378206
Can't go wrong with emulating GBA Pokemon or Fire Emblem. Hell, if done right it'll last you the whole trip.
>>
>>379377629
Dorf it's terrible on an underpowered laptop. Unless you have an internet connection and play it over ssh I don't recommend.
>>
>>379378206
GBA has some awesome games that can easily be played with just a keyboard

Check out the top list at https://www.emuparadise.me/Nintendo_Gameboy_Advance_ROMs/List-All-Titles-By-Downloads-1/31

If you enjoy RPG games, I highly recommend Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, amazing game that'll last you the whole trip
>>
Banner Saga series is pretty good and can run on any ancient Windows XP machine.

Morrowind

>>
>>379380140

No offense, but why do so many people suggest games that obviously need a mouse when the thread is about finding games that you can play without it?

Anyway, Crypt of the Necrodancer looks like something worth trying, thanks!

ftl and dungeon of the endless are AMAZING games but they need a mouse.

i would like to throw rabi ribi, hollow knight, and environmental station alpha into the ring

Siralim 2.
>>
>>379380806
FTL doesn't need a mouse, 90% of the commands are key mapped and everything else does fine with even a shitty trackpad. Have you even played it?

it's a really addictive puzzle game and there's the added bonus that people will think you're doing work if they see you playing it

how do you target your weapons or move troops without a mouse
>>
>>379383465

I played FTL exclusively on my laptop with not even a trackpad but one of those ridiculous mid-keyboard nubs. The keyboard controls nearly everything, it most definitely does not need a mouse.

The space key pausing so frequently makes it like the perfect laptop game

Yes, but you can mainly use the keys just for the weapons. Moving the crew and controlling the doors, along with shopping and assigning upgrades still needs a lot of mousework.

>>
>>379383807
None of these games have absolutely no mouse requirement, it's about a game where the mouse doesn't determine gameplay. The entire concept of FTL is pausing the game, plotting the next steps, and then letting them play out. I played it with a trackpad that was so glitchy I could barely browse the internet with it and I never had a problem, and like I said before 90% of everything you do is key mapped.

Diablo 2

AoE 2

>>
>>379383969

Yeah I see that, and my post says I played it with a damn nub. If the absolutely remedial level of mousing required in FTL is too much then what game possibly wouldn't be?

You have to select a game from your desktop and click it to start the game. Is that also too much work?

how the fuck will he play d2 or aoe2 without a mouse?????? an RTS without a mouse?!
>>
Oblivion is a great time sink and worked fine on my thinkpad x100e with an AMD Athlon Neo. Mouse movement doesnt have to be that precise or fast for oblivion. Try seeing if your laptop lets your mousepad simulate a trackball, that helps.
>>

maybe i'm weird but if i'm using keyboard controls the last thing that i want to do is move my hand to the trackpad for mouse access.. i can understand if your laptop has a knub for MINIMAL use, but i haven't seen a laptop with a knub for like 12 years
>>
>>379384164
Every single game mentioned requires some mousing though. That's just how computers work.

If OP is honestly that picky then he should get a gameboy, because he's going to start bitching about keyboard controls too.

Real games:
>Brawlhalla
>Rivals of Aether
>Hacknet

Joke games:
>The Fantastic Game
>Le Fantabulous Game

Mines like 7 years old, which is one of the reasons I played FTL on it since it has the graphics of a 15 year old game. The mousing in FTL is minimal so the nub worked fine. It's the same amount of mousing as plenty of the games he listed as fine.
>>
are there any single player MUDs? maybe you could try one
>>

>>
Seconding FTL. Installed it for a 12 hour flight and liked it so much that I was still playing it in the airport waiting for my connecting flight. controls fine on a laptop, don't know what some people are complaining about
>>
>>379379937

Is Duskers finished yet? I tried it long ago, but I learned not to play games until they can be properly completed.
>>
>>379377629
So what are your machine's specs? Laptop alone says nothing. All I know it could have Intel i7 and GTX 1070.

Anyway, try Talos Principle

Speaking of racing, I used to love Death Rally back in 1996. And while looking for a screenshot I discovered there's a remake of it made in 2012. I'll add that to the list of games to try too.

I'll just have to recommend Iji here: http://www.remar.se/daniel/iji.php

Great story, good dialogue, and the player's actions have great effect on how the story goes. It predates Undertale by several years, but definitely has the same feel of consequences and replayability.
