Pretty much the entire Orange Juice franchise if you bother to read between the lines.

Nier and Nier Automata are good. Without really spoiling much, both games embody the fact that in a conflict, neither side is "right". Even if you're on the side of more evil, you fight to defend your convictions, no matter what it costs the other side.

Tales of Berseria is dark as fuck, especially coming off of the sugary-sweet Zestiria. Kind of shocked me how far it went sometimes.

Think of a game like diablo for consoles. But like NIS games tend to be it has a shit ton of extra mechanics that aren't all that useful and the maps aren't randomly generated outside of a special section of the game that's kinda like the item dimension in disgaea. You also don't play as metalia outside of that dungeon. It's relatively repetetive but the story is actually quite interesting once you get past the rocky start.

The bossfights are generally pretty awesome, but most of the gameplay is boring as shit. It's like a really barebones Diablo clone with some rogue-like-lite elements.
