1. Shogun 2
2. Rome II
3. Attila
4. Empire
5. Napoleon
6. Autisthammer
does it still run 20 fps on ibm 2 qubits super computer?
>>379372945
Why are these games so graphically intensive when they look like shit? Isn't there a more efficient way of having a bunch of soldiers?
>>379372945
>2. Rome II
Get fucked.
>>379373912
Rome II Emperor Edition with a few mods is god tier
1. Warham
2. Shogun 2
3. Attila
4. Rome 2
5. Empire
6. Napoopan
t. someone who has played since original Medieval
History autists are the cancer of the worst kind.
Their autism LITERALLY stops them from enjoying a really good total war game. Can you fucking imagine that?
>>379373957
No it's shit tier. The underlying game is still terrible and no amount of modding polish can fix that.
>>379372945
>3. Attila
Shame it's such an underrated game in terms of heavy hitting Total Wars. CA also used it to test out things they would end up incorporating in Total War, for example.
>>379374207
objectively wrong
How do i get into Total War?
I have Rome 2, Shogun 2 and Attila but i never played any of them for more than 10 hours.
WHEN THE FUCK IS MEDIEVAL KINGDOMS 1212 COMING OUT
>>379374632
Shogun 2 is probably the best way to get started, channel your inner weeb and conquer Japan!
Any worthwhile mods for Medieval 2?
>>379372945
1.) Shogun 2
2.) Empire
3.) Napoleon
<<<POWER GAP>>>
4.) Attila
5.) Warhammer
6.) Rome 2
If you wanted me to do the whole series:
1.) Rome 1 + BI+ Alex (deal with it)
2.) Shogun 2
3.) Medieval 1
4.) Medieval 2 + Kingdoms
5.) Empire
6.) Shogun 1
7.) Napoleon
8.) Attila
9.) Warhammer
10.) Rome 2
That's my ranking for how fun they are to play RIGHT NOW. If we're doing "for the time of release" then obviously M1 and S1 would be ranked higher. What the fuck were they thinking for those shitty post-Rome 2 province mechanics? Empire was enough of a downgrade.
>>379372945
>it's another historyfags shit on warhammer fags thread
holy fuck can't you guys just be friends
>>379375587
Stainless Steel, Broken Crescent and Third Age are arguably the big three.
>>379376269
"no"
Although to be fair my personal beef with Warhammer is not the setting, which I like, but the gameplay feel, which is straight outta Rome 2, crazy motherfucker named Mark Strong.
1 Medieval 2
2 Shogun 2
3 Rome 1
4 Warhammer
5 Shogun
6 Empire
7 Attila
8 Napoleon
9 Rome 2
10 Medieval
This is the truth
>>379376414
Not a bad list apart from M1 at the bottom. It's got the best battles in the whole series, nigga, the only one which actually required tactics more involved than hammer and anvil.
>>379376285
Third age seems neat, is that Warhammer one any good or is it just a weak version of the actual game. I always prefered M2s management over the other games which is why its on the table
>Warcraft mod in development
I hope this actually goes somewhere this time.
>>379376493
Third Age is really great, you should try it. Not as though it'll cost you anything but bandwidth and time. The Warhammer mod has quite poor production values, but is actually surprisingly solid gameplay and lore wise. Again, no harm in trying. It's quite unstable though, expect crashes, whereas SS, BC and TATW are pretty rock solid.
>>379374417
Name the mods famalam. I've had an itch to give it another whirl. But, the memories of shit and the emperor edition only giving the AI more options to abuse the political intrigue system turned me off again.
>>379373957
>Rome II Emperor Edition with a few mods is god tier
>>379372945
>Attila below Rome II
>Rome II above anything
>Historyfags still THIS fucking mad
Sorry I cant hear over my favorite game getting expansion two years after release while history games have been abandoned
>>379376561
Thanks, Ill give Third Age a blur, surprised there hasnt actually been any talk of making an actual game out of the setting and not a mod, Ive seen people floating the Warhammer idea around for years but not LotR.
>>379376484
It was great I agree, especially the crusading mecanics, but I remember the game to be really ugly. I ranked it last because M2 basically does everything it did better.
I listed shogun 1 so high because I kinda liked the time when there was no campaign map (which is horrendous gameplay wise IMO) but the music was god tier and man those ninja assassinations were the best in the series by far
>>379376641
there's two separate dev teams gay boy
new historical total war is Pike and Shot (please god) or China
>>379376641
>expansion
Oh boy I can only imagine what it feels like to take this much Segacock!
>>379376595
DEI with Rome 2 is pretty good.
>>379376713
This delusion cant be real. There is going to be one more warhammer expansion after this one and then maybe 8 years from now you will get a history game (which will require you to wait more years for DLC to not be shit).
>>379376698
The battles were ugly, I agree, (though less so than Shogun), but I always thought the campaign map was rather pretty in its way (pic from the expac)
>>379376818
epin
>>379376912
You're right. I didn't remember the map for M1, it does look great indeed. I'll always remember the sound it makes when you drop your army pawn on an enemy tile
Anyway, nice to see that some of us actually started the total war with shogun 1
Here's my favorite part of the OST

This is your daily reminder that Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen were much better Warhammer Fantasy games than WTW, and that if you're haven't played them you are undoubtedly an underaged scrub. Thank you.
>>379377073
Agreed, Jeff Van Dyck was a genius, I will never be able to fathom why they replaced him with the supreme mediocrity that is Richard Beddow!
Also nice to meet a fellow TW oldfag, it's a shame that some of the design mistakes that were corrected several iterations of the series ago are no being made anew in the newer games, as though the devs aren't really that familiar with the games that were developed before (even R1 and M2)

My personal Top 5
Shogun 2
Warhammer
Attila
Medieval 2
Rome 1
All of them I love dearly.
Warhammer can slip down lower depending on the day you ask me - while its battles are fantastic, the campaign can be a bit shit.
Likewise Attila might slip down some days depending on how I feel about Cavalry Dominance.
Excited for Warhams 2, hope it'll have sex scenes.
Attila has some great features to add to the franchise but it's just so trash
>Effect of a general dying is outrageous compared to previous games, most battles can be decided by an early general snipe
>AI fucking awful at dealing with horse fuckers, the most prominent type of faction
>Worse general/tradition/agent skill trees than Rome 2 and Shogun 2
>Equally boring unit rosters to Rome 2
>Not very many interesting factions
>Ridiculous campaign victory conditions, essentially forcing the path of your migration to places you might not want to be
Rome 2 on release was shoddy but it's absolutely the better game now, my main problems with it are the boring units (especially for nomads), generals get bad traits from staying in cities far too fucking quickly, also they get old and die too quick. It would be much better if it had the ability to bail on a city and start migrating as well, had a few games (mostly as the Getae) where I've been surrounded and made a break for the coast to escape, giving up all my shit
>>379378426
My main problem with Attila is how boring and dull the atmosphere is. It kinda reminds me I'm wasting my life playing video games and makes me want to kill myself.
Migration mechanics and army tradition were nice though
>>379378426
>horsearchers in any of these games
>>379376595
not that many. mostly just graphics mods and a few AI tweaks. no big overhauls/meme changes like DEI or radious
>>379378595
I like all the non-Europe stuff in Attila
I need Medieval fucking 3
>Third Age mod
Pretty cool.
>>379378818
Just play CK2 and then play a Medieval 2 skirmish whenever you fight a battle.
>>379378874
Whats the "reforged" mod, Is it necassary?
>>379378607
At least it's not horsefuckery in Rome 2, three horse fucker factions whose units range from light horsebows to heavy horsebows and lancers and that's pretty much fucking it for 300 turns. It's no wonder less that 0.5% of players got the achievement for winning finishing a campaign as them.
>Attila AI
>>379378967
>having to alt+tab between games
>>379378874
Yeah it's awesome. It's really well done, even the music is cool. Had a game playing as Harad and has a real blast
>tfw the most memorable game you ever had ended in total defeat
Thoughts on the Hyrule Total War mod?
