Everyone, at some point, gets disappointed with Nintendo. They

Owned every Nintendo console and bought them all on launch, then realized what a big mistake that was when a few years passed after owning a Wii U.

Then I saw the Switch reveal and decided I'm done with this fucking goofballs until they can make a normal console again.

Got a bit hyped with the January reveal of the Switch, until I realized what I was really excited for was Zelda, not the new console.
And each week I feel relieved that I wasn't an early adopter of the Switch - this week was the announcement that ANOTHER Wii U game "Deluxe" is coming to the Switch as part of its lineup. Looks like I'm actually waiting until Mario Odyssey is out before buying one.

Surprised I'm the one with something earlier than a couple years, but the 3DS pricecut 3 or 4 months was the first time was the first time for me.

Well, now I'll never buy anything at launch again, for better or worse.

The Wii onwards.

Nintendo recaptured my heart with W101 and Tropical Freeze but quickly dashed my hopes by giving up on the Wii U from E3 2015 onwards.

Breath of the Wild was great though but unless they show a real Metroid game, and a new Custom Robo, new Famicom Wars, or new F-Zero I'm not buying a switch. Arms and splatoon both look pretty shallow.

Coming off of what seemed like upticks for the Wii U from late 2013 to all of 2014, it was a big "we give up" message. Pointless mario sports game, paper mario reduced to a crossover character, federation force after other M, star fox looks like shit, amiibo third party shilling, no breath of the wild, smash bros DLC characters were leaked a day or two before.

No one was pleased, on the niconico stream fans were asked to rate the direct and I think it was about 85% that said they were dissapointed, the lowest score possible and Iwata apologized for it in a statement promising to improve next time. Of course in the west Reggie damage controlled hard.

I've owned every single Nintendo console since my sister and I got a NES for Christmas.

It all began with the Wii, the first console I bought with my first job (also got it on launch) - Why are Virtual Console games so stupidly priced? Why do they come out in such a drip feed? I didn't have a PC and was a total moralfag so I didn't emulate. By the time Tatsunoko came out, I modded my Wii and slapped in a 32 GB card with every single NES, SNES, Genesis, etc game on it and went to town.

When the Wii U came out, I transferred all of my shit only to find out that I had to buy it all over again - Even if it was just $1-2 dollars a game, that was fucking unacceptable. Then you have greasy Nintendo nerds online defending this price, saying "well you can still play them on the Wii side for free" - Go fuck yourself, I bought a shiny new tablet, I wanna play on my shiny new tablet.

Now the Switch is out, and for the first time I had to send in a console for repairs (joycon was fucked AND so was the wifi) NOT TO MENTION it sounds like they're going to make us start ALL OVER AGAIN with VC.

I've long since gotten a PC. I've also been playing Playstation since the PS1, and my PS3/PS4 are out in my living room with my Wii U and Switch. PSN just has so much of a fucking better deal with PS1 games compared to VC (can transfer them to my PSP or Vita) but if I dare point out this basic fact, screeching Nintendo nerds start attacking me online.

Just fuck this whole industry. Burn it all down and start over.

Nintendo never let me down until the release of the Wii. I owned every console prior (including handhelds), and every single time I was satisfied with both the hardware and software that was provided. The Wii was filled with so much shovelware that I spent most of my time playing GameCube games and realized how shit a vast majority of the Wii library is. Once my younger brother got a 360 it really cemented how garbage it was and I never touched it again.
Gameboy color was my first Nintendo handheld and it was great, felt the same way about the GBA SP. The DS was alright for a bit but when the allure of the 2 screen and wonky touch gimmicks wore off I lost interest. I think it was while playing that shit Kirby game where you have to move him by drawing shit on the touch screen is when it really hit me.
Don't help that it never felt like I had the shit version of the console because it kept getting iterations that were basically what it should have been from the start. Bought and hackedva PSP and never looked back until recently.

I missed out on a lot of decent looking 3Ds games so I'm probably gonna pick up the New 2DS and try to get back in.
Out side of Mario the Switch has nothing to offer me though.

After the Wii. The Wii was a fucking meme. I remember how much fun it was to play games on my Gamecube and then the Wii had to come along and bring about the gimmick generation. I'm cool with the 3DS because the 3D bullshit isn't mandatory, but for a lot of Wii games, motion controls were the only things you could work with. And you know what? It wasn't fucking fun.

I kind of stopped giving a shit about them for a while, then the Wii U came out and realized I made a good decision to just stick to their handheld. I can still enjoy Nintendo games, but I will admit I definitely outgrew the singleplayer games. I don't know if it's just me, but anything that isn't Mario Kart or Smash Bros just has no fucking replayability whatsoever.

I honestly think the only way Nintendo can get away without revealing Retro's game and it not being Metroid is if its a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing.

I mean I got Bayo 2 and W101 and the new Smash game on the Wii U, but the way that Nintendo dropped it like a ton of bricks was pretty shitty of them. But who could blame them? They had a new Mario game, a new 2D Mario game, party games, a Mario Kart, even a new Zelda and they STILL couldn't convince people to buy a Wii U tablet. At least it's a really good DS emulator.

When they announced 3DS I was sceptical. I decided to wait and see how it develops. There was quite a few good games released, but I relented because I knew the Nintendo Cycle:

>Console Definitive Version
And so, when I saw 3DS XL I assumed it would be the very definite version of the current console, followed by entirely new console later on.
This wasn't the case. After 3DS XL there came 2DS. I thought nothing of it as I wasn't interested in a shitty downgrade. Then, Nintendo released NEW 3DS AND NEW 3DS XL. Better in every way, with additional analog stick and improved 3D that doesn't require finding a sweet spot as it follows your eyes instead. To add insult to the injury only some of the new consoles would get upgraded screen with no way to know which one you get until you open a fucking box denying you a freedom of choice and right to return it.
Well fuck you Nintendo, that was a truly foul move. I decided that I will pirate all future games from them and will only buy pre-owned consoles in best condition possible, denying Nintendo any more of my money. I own a decent collection of original games since SNES era, they won't see any more of my money ever again.

Oh and Switch just affirmed me in my decision.

Yes. Then again you can't pack too much power into tiny handheld. Price of miniaturisation is steep, that's why gaming desktop is two to three times cheaper than similarly specced gaming laptop.

Back in the day Nintendo was known for multiplayer, and now multiplayer evolved to be online, and nintendo gave up.
