Assuming it's exactly the same as the arcade version, each character has a set brave movelist and unique Ex Skill, while you choose one* HP attack and two other Ex Skills. Vaan gets to pick two HP attacks and some characters have HP attacks that change based on stuff like ground/air etc. Ex skills vary between attacks, buffs, mode changes and debuffs. CP might be out but balance seems like it'll be better overall, partly because of them making a lot of HP attacks kinda similar. Cosmos is cuter but Materia is cute too and her outfit is silly.

You can disable all those pop-ups in the upper corners, and the game encourages you to do so after the tutorial is over. The stuff you have to pay attention to in Duodecim is relegated to large, pulsating, brightly colored bars in one section of the screen, which you can easily keep an eye on using only your periphery vision. How did this game not evolve? It's basically the exact same thing, but with nicer graphics. Yes the game was amazing on the PSP, but that's because it was the PSP. It had no fucking competition. The combat is much slower pace than old games.
The UI was ok, mostly because its on handheld, but now its on console, those texts cover like 60% of the screen
Not sure about the party fight, I prefer one one one.

Not him but just about every match I've seen of this game (and I have watched a lot of gameplay footage) was filled with people who weren't keeping in mind any of the game's new changes to the base mechanics. People keep taking to the air despite dodge changes making it more dangerous for example. Removing Quick Move on the other hand was a stupid decision and especially makes no sense with the dash gauge, moreso when they made wallrunning use it, even though it's not an issue when actually dashing.

Kefka is already in the game though.

I googled. It was Spiritus. That gimmick was cool as fuck and made him feel unique with all the varied ways his moves were put together. Pity they completely screwed him in Duodecim by replacing mives for no reason, making most of the new ones redundant or less fun and making all his lines just be copies instead of a few HPs so he lost that feel of still being his own man.
All that said though, he got a full redesign in arcade and his moves are based off of multiple jobs. Using and hitting with them enough levels them up making them stronger and giving him a permanent buff, with his Ex Skill letting him pass them to his team for a time.
