I do as well to an extent, but I can understand the limitation of not doing it since you would have to account for a lot of factors for when players finish social links. What confused me about 5 is that some of the confidants were barred till you reached a date, but only like 2 of them were affected by the story and never related back to why it was closed off. If I had to choose one or the other I would still put it in the social links, since otherwise they aren't eventful and become a drag. also It's nice to understand the backstory of some of the characters and why they think/act the way they do, like I used to dislike Rise but once I did her social link I was sold on her
