Yes, a lot actually. However, they're invisible to nintendo cockgobblers

It's boring, unplayable garbage. The fact that so many critics still consider it one of the greatest games of all time just shows how far video games are from becoming a serious art.
>>
Dude, just go back in time to 1997 and look at how adults viewed this fucking game.

Adults were working full time jobs and playing games like MGS and FFVII, which had much more engaging and interesting stories than OOT. MGS even had full voice acting, something Zelda has NEVER had. (BOTW only has voices during cutscenes)

It's amazing how nostalgia has carried this franchise so far.
>>
Yes but since it's nintendo and zelda it's alright.

How empty Hyrule Field really is aside from the big poes

Having to open the menu to change boots in the Water Temple.

Mind-numbingly simplistic combat

Awful performance
Unskippable cutscenes

>>379323893
The other graph is to show your objective in the dungeon. Basically it's saying you go in one side room & back out to unlock the other door in the bigger main room to progress, it's pretty linear compared to dungeons in Link's Awakening for example where you can get multiple keys anywhere & it's not guiding you to go this one linear path.
>>
>>379324254
...?

No, Nintendo stole the concept of 3D platforming from Argonaut and put it into Super Mario 64, which they then copy pasted in OOT.

Guru Larry made a video about this.

No dungeon in OoT lets you choose where to use a key, you're gated behind a linear string of doors in every single dungeon.
OoT's dungeons are an insult to the ones from A Link to the Past.

This accusation of OoT being "gated" is arbitrary. So what if it's a key, item, or quest item curtailing progress? The Forest Temple is linear because they rearranged the dungeon layout in that way to emphasize a twisting hallways, the second which is skippable in Master Quest if you know OoT well. It could not have been made another way.

So if the question is "does OoT let you choose which locked doors to open," the answer is absolutely, by letting you skip them altogether. Keys are just a font to determine how far you are in the dungeon. To open doors out of order is no more a factor of nonlinearity as opening them from the backside is. The reason for this is simple and is exclusive to OoT as far as Zelda goes: verticality. From the Deku Tree until the final battle with Ganon, a player constantly interacts with variations in height. In the Five Temples, this aspect takes a new form in determining Link's ability to progress, including the end of the mostly flat Shadow Temple. The real way to show nonlinearity would be a cross-section of the dungeon from Link's perspective. You see... the name "Best Game of All Time" comes from the fact that OoT has perfected every aspect of dungeon-jutsu.

>>
>>379324458
I think the tale of a kid having destiny thrown on him and being (literally) forced into turning into an adult with even more responsibility has always got to me. And then he doesn't even get to stay after his victory because the one he saved felt really guilty for taking away his lost time. I adore this ending. Maybe my imagination is just going crazy here but the story of Link's journey itself is something really nice and heroic here, sort of like a simple but neat fairy tale.
>>
>>379325039
LttP's dungeons are very samey and forgettable. There's a world of difference between the Shadow Temple and the Water Temple. In general 2D Zelda games have aged very poorly compared to OoT
>>
>>379325138
Have you played OoT recently? Na'Vi is pretty annoying. Sure not as bad as Fi or Midna but Na'Vi is still annoying and started the trend

Hyrule Field is a shit overworld, it's basically filler between the actually important areas. It only exists to showcase how "big" the game is. LttP's overworld was way better.
Framerate sucks.
Epona is incredibly overrated and only useful in 1-2 spots. Not sure why she's so popular and so tied into OoT's core identity. To be fair Zelda has yet to get horses right.
Jabu Jabu's Belly is tedious ugly shit with an annoying escort gimmick.
Even ignoring the memes, Navi isn't a very good companion. Her design and personality are very boring, she basically does very little of importance besides justifying why Link can lock-on to enemies. Tatl is much better despite being a reskin, and Midna is in a completely different league.
Too many of the items are carry-overs from LttP.
Ganondorf is a shit final boss and his Ganon form is an awful redesign. If Ganondorf was made today everyone would complain about him being an OC donut steel and beg for pig Ganon back.
While it's not quite the easiest Zelda it's still pretty damn easy.
It turned Zoras into sea elves.
Gorons are also basically nigger dwarves.
It's generally a very slow, clunky, and awkward game compared to LttP.
I can kind of understand why auto-jumping is a thing because of system limitations, but manual jumping is way better.
It was originally planned to have romance, and while it didn't make it into the final product, I can't help but feel that there's an alternate universe where it did happen and ruined video games forever.

Still one of the better Zeldas though.
>>
>>379325480
I have and she really doesn't interrupt that much after you are done with the tutorials aside from warning in floormaster rooms

Fi is by far way worse.
>>
why people complain about it being slow when it's the comfiest game ever to hang out in? you're supposed to luxuriate in the atmosphere and music of Kakariko Village etc
>>
>>379325726
If Ganondorf was made today people would praise the game for being redpilled against sandniggers

You're right about the story. It's nice and quaint. The quintessential battle between good and evil that it is. But even when it's simple it contains deep undercurrents like the foreshadowing throughout the game about the Hero of Time before him, and in a sense a metaphorical allegory through the Sage's deaths and the bittersweet end, that life doesn't always go your way but the important thing is to keep moving.

This is similar to how Kenshin is both an action Shonen about swordsmanship in the end of feudal Japan and a narrative that stresses the importance of moving forward in spite of the present outcome, accepting the things you couldn't change for what they are.
>>
>>379323420
>You need to do a thing before you can do the next thing

So literally any game ever?
>>
Nostalgia googles the game, in my opinion. It's not terrible but it's not something someone who didn't play it when it came out would pick up and love to death. Don't get me wrong, I know Zelda had a huge impact on games but I just don't think it's as good as it once way. I also think that with Zelda games a lot of times people will like the one they started on the best, and in my case I started with and enjoyed A Link to the Past more.
>>
>>379323778
I didn't know Scaruffi browsed /v/
>>
>>379329141
You have nostalgia goggles tbqh famalam. You can say that about literally any game. It's not an argument. Just arbitrary rhetoric. Games don't age and OoT is still just as relevant as it was then. IN FACT, more, because games suck now. You like ALttP, but aren't able to see that because you're a fanboy and probably offended by hearing OOT be praised over your favorite. You'd say the opposite if it was ALttP that was praised.
>>
>>379323983
>Too much waiting for lots of tasks
Sun's Song
>Started annoying Na'Vi trend
Navi wasn't annoying and OoT isn't responsible for future titles having annoying versions of Navi.
>Pre-3DS water dungeon is a mess
If you know where the keys are you can go through the whole thing only having to access each water level once
>>
>>379323351
pacing sucks in 2nd half, because you go from dungeon to dungeon to dungeon, etc. first half had the dungeons spaced out between exploring new regions of the overworld, visiting towns and talking to NPCs.

the time travel is underutilized and, frankly, pointless.

art direction is bland as fuck.

optional content sucks ass. only like 3 worthwhile side quests. the minigames suck dick.
>>
>>379323351
sidequests are bad and some dungeons are just flat out boring
the only good part of this game is the last level
>>
>>379323351
It doesn't have the amount of exploration or non linearity early Zelda had nor does it have the creative puzzles later Zelda have, its a mediocre intermediate.
>>
*Gazing out at the endless legions of the edgelord army*
>>
>>379333505
>sidequests are bad
OoT was the first game with real sidequests in 3D so it can't be blamed for being sparse, but to say the ones it did have are bad is flat out bullshit.

>>379333768
>It doesn't have the amount of exploration or non linearity early Zelda
But that's fucking wrong.

>>379334439
It's like nonlinearity is their new buzzword but they don't understand what the word means.
>>
>>379325726
>LttP's overworld was way better.

How? I rarely hear a good explanation of this. When people talk about LttP's "overworld", they usually include everything in the game's world that isn't inside of a dungeon, yet don't do the same for OoT and instead just count Hyrule Field for some reason, when OoT otherwise has a more expansive and varied Hyrule.

The fact that OoT has both massively open areas like the field and lake, along with tightly designed intricate areas, puts it above the more constrained overworld LttP has.

>Epona

Epona is awesome in OoT because she was completely optional and used primarily for side-quests, convenience and sequence breaks. I love that the game had the balls to not make her mandatory and easily missable despite her being such a prominently 'advertised' aspect of the game.

>Too many of the items are carry-overs from LttP.

Oh, come off like that means anything. LttP did not have anything with fully aim-able arcs in 3D space with multiple degrees of freedom and for the most part only let you shoot shit in cardinal directions to the extent of the current screen. This is so much of an advancement of what was possible before that most of the shit it lets you do is barely the 'same item' in anything but the vaguest functional sense.
>>
Rupees are useless.
>>
OoT revolutionized 3D action adventure the same way Mario 64 revolutionized 3D platforming.

It deserves every accolade it received.
>>
i think it's just a boring game now and the world is just bland. But at the time, in 1998, pretty damn cool.
