On top of that. It had fully voiced dialogs at a time when games don't do it for a very good reason. The actors are beyond awful and the writing is dreadfully immersion breaking.

It had one of the most generic and boring fantasy settings ever seen in an open world RPG. Add to that a most generic and boring main plot and main character.

People complain about TW3 having a set main character but at least he has an actual personality and the plot isn't godawful.

These aren't even the main downsides of the game. The most problematic part is the control and combat system. The fact that it's made in 2001 doesn't excuse those.

Rebind the keys to something comfortable.
Interacting with the world is done through action key + a direction.
You can do every quest in the first chapter for every faction, the game makes it clear when you finalize sealing the game with one of them.
If you want to be a mage, join Old Camp.
If you find any potions that permanently raise a stat, save ir for later. They can push you above the training limit, but if you use them before hitting the cap you just waste training opportunity. The one exception is health, you can jug as many of them as you want since you can't train that anyway.

But overall the biggest problem with a new Gothic is its location.
They cannot let Gothic 3 stay canon because Gothic 3s ending is connected to Risen 1.

So if they ever do a new Gothic game it will be Neo-Gothic 3 and retcon the old Gothic 3 completely.

That however would upset everyone who likes the old Gothic 3 (Yes those people exist).
And overall a Gothic 3 would simply be too big for Piranha to develop.

You still need a giant Myrtana.
You still need the desert.
And you also need Nordmar.

You don't need a key to exit your starting room. You do to get into the apartment next to it, but the apartment building exit and your door are both unlocked. You also get $100 in your desk that you can buy the lockpick with. I still agree that they should just give you the lockpick even if you skip the tutorial though, I usually just give it to myself with the console.

Santa Monica is definitely the best, but it might just be because it's a new experience at that point. I think the game is still great up until the video tape/sewers, and just okay after that, but the good parts make up for it. It's unfortunate that the later parts of the game are the way they are, but it's still one of my favorite games.

The reading and interaction with NPCs can still have gameplay though. In VtMB you still have to choose the right lines carefully for some cases, and using persuasion/seduction/intimidation is a form of gameplay.

Gameplay is more important than story, but a good story can enhance the gameplay. I like that you put soundtrack above graphics though, I feel the same way about that.

I only played Gothic 1 that i pirated from Kazaa over 12 years ago, and i liked it.

Every time I load a save in Gothic 2, the camera centers above the characters head and messes up the field of view. This can only be reset when I talk to a character, after that the camera returns to default position (which is bit behind the character etc).

However this issue is driving me insane. Any fixes? Also, I needed to edit the Gothic2.ini to get faster mouse movement etc.
