I can't believe people are actually hyped that GF is doing this. The original games usually stand up pretty well on their own and the third version offers a better experience and is done two years after. This is done only one year after and SM didn't hold up well on their own at all. GF literally sold you a rushed, unfinished product then (hopefully) patched up the missing content and is re-selling it next year with a retold story and some extra Pokemon which both aren't impressive feats when you have the entire game base done.

If any other company did this they'd be getting a hell of a lot of shit for it. This is like a $20 DLC update at very most and GF is selling it off as a new game.

Guzma seems cool, but I haven't gotten far enough to tell yet, and it's likely just because I've only seen him maybe once or twice. Lilly is annoying and dull, 14 year old edgelord is painfully uninteresting, and making the professor such a giant focus was probably the worst sin. I know he's the champion, but he's still as fucking boring and unneeded as everyone else, and from a story perspective it just further drives home the hand holding that this gen is particularly awful about.
I'm fine with lots of cutscenes in a Pokemon game, just make sure they're at least fucking enjoyable like in Emerald or something.

Dark didn't need toning down. Dragon was only "good" because of the psuedo-legendaries. Poison is still nowhere to be seen, because aside from some actually good Pokemon like Gengar and Toxapex, it's worthless, and Steel is still rarely used offensively because it's a defensive type and few non-Steel Pokemon have Steel moves.

The big thing B/W did right was limiting you to non regional pokemon. The problem with subsequent pokemon games was building a dex including familiar pokemon. Gen V gave us that Gen I feeling again of going out and meeting new pokemon, instead of forming a team comprised entirely of gen 1 pokemon every single gen, which most people unironically do.

Gen 6 had it worst because it outright forced Gen 1 pandering on you. You bring a new mechanic like Mega Evolution into play, and instead of giving it to your new starters, you instead give people the Gen 1 starters, AND a mega stone for them? Thats a big fuck you to even owning the gen 6 starters in the first place. Why even bother if they're just going to give you something more powerful for free? And lets not forget the free lucario as well.

I love B/W2 Colress, and Neo-plasma, but the storytelling and progression of events in B/W is just so much better. I will never replay any post gen V Pokemon game but even with SM i've never felt the game to be such a slog to go through and as boring as HG, which is weird because i loved GSC back then. It's the only game where i have less than 70 hours on it.
