Sunrider: Liberation Day as a game is pretty nice, it's like Rance where you boot it up thinking you're in for rape and sex, but by the end you're micro managing an army for that final push.

The truth of the matter is that Sekai Project are in the red more often than not. It's literally why they're doing so many damn kickstarters for everything. Launching more and more kickstarters before even following through on their previous kickstarters.

They are seriously abusing kickstarters as some kind of conditions free bank loans.
What they do is that whenever they need money, they throw out a new kickstarter. Then they use the funds from said kickstarter to spend it on whatever it was they wanted. Be it investing in new licences or to follow through on a previous kickstarter. And then whenever they need funds to finally follow through on said kickstarter, they simply make a completely new kickstarter for some completely unrelated project. And then use money from that kickstarter, to follow through on their old kickstarter(s) instead of using it to follow through on the kickstarter people actually pledged money towards. They'd need another kickstarter to do that.

Then expecting Aroduc to just willingly give away his years of work over to them and then just fuck off. Naturally he didn't. So now Sekai Project have a licence that they don't have the work done for that they told Giga that they had. With no work done for it. In addition to leaving Aroduc unable to ever release the translation he worked on for so long for it.

Most of the mad comes from them censoring the product during localization in games where censored content is actually important to the story itself.

Yeah, I agree. It generally worked but I don't feel like the emotions thing really added too much to the mix. I feel like it was trying to be different in a way to other VNs but it didn't exactly pan out.

Sekai has never gone through on any promise that they have made. They overcharge for patches. Karaka is a great example of this. Its a 10$ game for 2 hours worth of storyline, and for maybe 2 small H-Scenes the patch is about 10$. Dovac still the leadership of Sekai bitched when people were pirating the patch because it was expensive for the H-Scenes it had.

Also on top of that every kickstarter is always delayed and they do not get it out until 3 years later, and when they do its always rushed and poorly done.

Academy is sort of an "alternate universe" spinoff game.
Thing is, Sunrider has a lot of background lore involving technology that gives physics the middle finger, and one of your crewmates is secretly a timelord. So technically, it's part of the canon, but it has no real relevance to the main games. At best, it fleshes out what Kayto & Ava were like before the story of the main games began, and gives some insight on what's going on in Sola's head when she's trying (and failing) to act all mysterious and disconnected.

But it's mostly just a porn game for the sake of being a porn game.

I like visual novels simply because it presents things to me as it is going instead of just words for me to try and visualize myself. Then again thats just me.

If you havent you may want to try and play Danganronpa or even Steins;Gate to figure out why others like Visual Novels. They can be pretty fun when done right.
