I actually enjoyed how everyone was rather shitty/medicore and loved desert chapter and the chapter where mages snipe you with divine magic.

Conquest writting/pandering really ruins the game for me but the gameplay is good. Pairup still needs a few more tuning as late game, defense felt way more viable since enemies start dealing a fuck ton of damage and you don't have that much health. The issue is your health does not scale up very well I feel. Gameplay is still really good but could be better.

12 isn't for everyone, but after disliking 10 so much, the blend of both old and new gameplay mechanics was truly amazing. Also, the script, VA, mocap, music, and in-game cinematics were mind-blowing at the time.

It's IZJS, which wasn't released outside of Japan commercially (but there's been an ENG patch for emulation for years now). It turns the universal job board into job specifications, adds a trial mode (boss rush), NG+, fast-forward button for grindy battles and large maps, and rebalances skills/magic/items/gambits.
