Some People don't associate Sonic CD as part of the classic 4. Maybe due to most kids with a genesis couldn't get the Sega CD.

Sonic 4 is more obvious, being a failed attempt to make a competent sequel and wants to sweep it under the rug.

CD also happens AFTER mania. That's why mania has Stardust Speedway past.
