What niche is League serving?

Even pro players admit it comes nowhere near the complexity and depth of Brood War, or even DotA. Even fundemental features like drafting are abysmal, and they have yet to implement features like replays or match rewind that other games have had for years.

Is it serving the casual crowd? There are dozens of alternative games at this point, and none of them gouge you as hard as League. Smite gives away all it's characters for a one time fee, hell DotA 2 is entirely free. Even the Jews at ActiBlizz managed to cook up a less offensive business model than the chunks manhandling Riot.

No, the the only niche League serves is itself. It's a snake eating it's own tail. The only people playing it anymore are either too far in to get out or being dragged down by the people who are. People often say League is more forgiving of mistakes because it doesn't have gold loss on death, when in fact the opposite is exactly true.

All champions in League scale upwards on a linear curve before hitting major power spikes, and once you get behind on that race you have already lost unless the enemy team fucks up. There is no way to alter your build to make up for this. You cannot significantly alter your item or skill build to account for this. There are no alternate avenues for investing hold or XP outside of the set linear path.

That is why League is shit. That is why every pro game turns into a fucking snoize fest with no action. You trip once, even near the finish line, and it's fucking over.

That isn't competitive, and it sure as fuck isn't fun. It's a fucking five legged race down a set path and if one of you falls over you're bringing everyone else down with you.
