The talent left. People like Egoraptor and other animators/VAs. With Newgrounds you didn't have the retarded algorithms of YT, so your content had to be good even if there wasn't much of it.

They went to YT and realized they could make 100x more money by pumping out LPs instead.

For flash games it's pretty simple, flash is simply too unoptimized to be used to make games anymore. I can emulate Gamecube games at 1080p with anti-aliasing but Super Deepthroat barely runs at 15 fps even on medium.
Plus I don't know HOW the fuck this is even possible, but I swear to god flash has become so unoptimized that even the ancient flash games run poorly. I tried playing Pico's School recently and it chugged at like 10fps unless I set quality to low, this is a game I played on a shitty prebuilt Gateway PC in 2004 and it ran perfectly on high. What the fuck?

As for animations, all the quality creators got sick of how much work it took to make flash animations or outright lost their passion and just became let's players. Even with the advent of Patreon I don't think anyone cares enough about Newgrounds anymore to bring any of them back. the last big thing I remember happening was the Street Fighter collab and that was fucking YEARS ago.

The music portal is probably still really good, underrated part of the site honestly.

Adding an Art portal was a really good idea but they did it WAY too late in the site's history and it was pretty much dominated 100% by Shadman until he got his own site.

Also taking away anonymous user's ability to look at Adult flashes was the worst change ever made to the site.

Porn scared off advertisers. YT was a platform where people could actually make money from their cartoons.
