Those games did nothing wrong except having no choice but to be out on a shitty console. the games themselves were pretty great so I'm actually happy I can now have a chance of getting them WITHOUT having to waste money on a WiiU

Smash 4 DX is pretty much guaranteed at this point, Sakurai is burnt out on Smash so its not likely that he'll be working on a new one for the next few years.

The increase in resolution alone makes it inherently more expensive to make. Not even touching on the change in expectations of the playerbase on a console like the 3DS versus a more powerful console. The Switch is unreal engine compatible and this was revealed like 2 years ago. You don't even need a dev kit unless you're making something intense that needs tested on the hardware.
