Why did /v/ turn on Minecraft?
>>
Notch is a neckbeard, and even he turned on Minecraft
>>
>>379262013
It got too popular.
>>
>>379262097
This
Once shit becomes mainstream it's over.
Yet strangely you see Pepe and cuck all over Twitter but /v/ will still use them often.
>>
>>379262013
You already know the answer
Why is this the only way to start a minecraft thread?
>>
>>379262252
Define "mainstream".

Because there are quite a few games that a majority of /v/ place on a pedestal that are mainstream.
>>
Why did notch turn on /v/? It was going so well.
>>
>>379262428
Notch was a fat lazy fuck that didn't wanna continue to work on the game and add new shit.
>>
Same reason v suddenly hates dark souls
its on pc------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>
>>379262979
except minecraft is on every console
>>
>>379262013
Did anyone really turn on it
I think people just stopped playing because its old
>>
I can only give you my reasons. I'm not a very creative person, I quickly run out of things to do in survival and crafting games, and I think the graphics look horrible

It's still a good game to go back to if you ever just wanna play something for the sake of being comfy.
>>
Why did Microsoft spend 2.5 billion dollars to acquire it?
>>
>>379262097
They turned on it for the same reason they turned on Starbound, only not as hard because Starbound is another level of fuckery.
>>
>>379262849
Only Notch doesn't own it anymore and it still isnt anything. It's a shell, a concept without vision. Forever untapped potential.
>>
>>379264946
>>379265136
Because Minecraft 2
Now with maximum autism
I hope
>>
>>379262013
It's been shit ever since the adventure update, the one that added hunger.
>>
>>379264946
Because that was Notch's price.
>>
People had great expections for how the game would end up and were left severely dissatisfied.

It also set a major precedent for early access bullshit.
>>
>>379262013
Because Notch turned on /v/

Btw, can we agree that that fat fuck is, by a wide margin, the least worthy billionaire in human history? I mean for fuck's sake
>>
>>379262013
>spent 18 months on an update
>adds 3 blocks, a new mob, a flower and re-colored blocks of something that already existed in the game
>all that shit was already avaliable in mods anyway
Their slow and lazy development cycle to be honest. One-man dev teams pump out more content in a weekend than Minecraft do in a year
>>
>>379266554

he's like the Zuckerberg of game devs

>steals his idea
>neither credits nor pays the other dev
>>
>>379262013
/v/ turned on it because Notch failed to do good on many, if any, of his promises. Updates became slower and slower as the game got bigger - and by bigger I mean it became an industry in and of itself. From Minecraft many youtube channels sprouted up and it's arguable that Minecraft was the biggest catalyst for the rise of the geeky nerd streamer people making loads of dosh just by being a geeky nerd and streaming Minecraft, and then they moved on to other things (like horror games) when that got stale. Minecraft has leggos now, it has published guides (in hardcover!) and fucking novels and all sorts of shit. Minecraft is one of the biggest brands out there now, which is kinda crazy. /v/ never really turned on the game so much as /v/ turned on Notch and the crazy industry that grew around the game.
>>
>>379262013

Do any of you underage niggers actually remember, or are aware of Infiminer, the game that notch ripped off to make minecraft? I doubt it. I bet the infiniminer dev killed himself.

And the official update broke all the old mods.
>>
>>379262013
because past 1.7.3 was a mistake

They always break mods and servers by updating to add like 4 things.

They once changed the format of texture packs so everyone had to update them to a new file format. iirc they did that twice.
>>
>>379262013
People loved it for its potential.

Then the devs decided to go for realism for some reason, and those changes made clear that the potential wouldn't be realised.
>>
how about that mod API?

voting to add multiplayer support too early killed it.

once all the sperg 10 year old youtubers heard about the cool online youtuber channel game all serious attempts to add real gameplay were doomed.

>>379268163
also this

Playing beta with friends is really comfy

The updates are always dumb shit that nobody asked for.

>"90% of Minecraft servers use a plugin that let's users protect their items, so maybe we could make that an official feature?"

>"Fuck that let's add rabbits"
>>
>>379262013
Because we aren't 12 year-old autistic children and pixelated blocks aren't stimulating anymore? If I want a building experience now I play Fallout 4 instead.
>>
>>379268841
Desaturating the colours and making worlds generate flatter really killed the comfy.
>>
>>379262013
Personally I left when it blew up with the 12 and under crowd. For some reason I fucking hate them and anything they like by extension.
>>
>>379262013
because it exploded

/v/ hates it because it's the most fun you can possibly have.
>>
>>379262013
they started adding magic and shit, I want to make an industrial mine complex, not play zelda lite.
>>
There's nothing to the game. As soon as you get diamonds, it's over.

what is the point of MINECRAP?
>>
>>379262979

thats because it's a stupid arpg nobody asked for
>>
