Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK/Injustice have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

online is fucked on everyplatform - its hard to connect to someone but once you do its good
also theres no quick rematch option for online lobby, you have to chose characters and stage after EVERY FUCKING fight

That's not a fact. I've had the game since midnight launch and haven't gotten a game to function via matchmaking even once. It's so very statistically improbable that every single person I was matched with decided to decline against a Beginner with 0 wins instantly.

Anyway, since I haven't been able to play online except when my friends are up for it (Tournament mode's been rife with bugs), I have plenty of cosmetics from Treasure Battle, at least. Here's some of the fruits of that labor, although among these may be some very rotten fruit.

I hate the music in this game. I rarely say that and usually enjoy even mediocre game music if it's fitting, but it just really fucking blows on this game.

Has anyone tried if you can sit in quick match warmup and invite a friend there? I sincerely doubt it works, however back in Vanilla MvC3 Capcom didn't make this an official feature but it worked in their version of quick match and it was the best method to play long sets with people.

Don't remember combos, go for simple punishes.

For example, instead of doing a 10 hit combo with King, you can go for the head spinner and deadly stinger, which is literally 3 buttons, and be able to do decent damage. Spacing and moving to be able to punish accordingly is what matters.

Real advice, play a crap ton to where a lot of it is second nature. Once you get passed that, start to break down what you are trying to achieve in the match with your character.

The difference in Tekken is going to come from who understands their opponent better, and who has a worse time adapting to that aspect.

After you truly spend time playing the game and decide you like it enough, then start to break down the frame data, and learn to break throws on reaction.

After that, tournaments and money matches.
