It's hard when you want to just play in peace and not be associated with the bad crowd. Even if our potency numbers are deficient it's not even going to matter until they release the raid content anyway, so they have until then to continue tweaking and testing numbers to get it right. SMNs have so many dmg modifiers (DWT, new-Contagion, Ruination, etc) that I'd imagine it's a nightmare to balance to begin with.

They are getting a GCD AoE with damage.
"Boring" part depends of your tastes. They still play just like a 3.0 PLD (apply goring, spam royal, throw oGCDs around when available), but now Riot Blade and Sheltron plays a bigger role in your damage potential with the new damage skills (use thunder blade thing, get magic damage buff from it, spam GCD holy until MP runs out). Plus the usual defensive cooldowns, old and new, that depends om encounters to be "fun" or not (like the new AoE shield).
