The Ruse Cruise is real. The details are unimportant, because most of the people posting about it are following one of many deliberately laid narrative trails that aren't particularly accurate.

The thing is, the ruse isn't just Metal Gear. Or Kojima. Or Konami. The ruse is multimedia. It is one part of a massive entertainment conspiracy currently coming to fruition. It's been building in earnest for years.

Metal Gear. Castlevania. Silent Hill. Half Life. Westworld. Archer. Rick and Morty. Homestuck. Fallout. Sherlock. The list goes on and on...

The thing shared by all of these things is an element of untruth. Conspiracy. There are things being hidden from you, narratives being deliberately written to incite a feeling of unease, of unreality. False endings. Foreshadowing that goes nowhere. It's not bad writing. It's purposeful deception!

I think there is an element of media information overload, and how that effects our ability to accurately assess what is real and what is not. Snake woke up from his coma before Medic did.

Snake couldn't just leave because he needed to escort Medic out to safety when he woke up. He was the only one who could.

Keep in mind this was an urgent situation, nobody was supposed to find Snake/Medic's location this early. So Snake and Ocelot were definitely not fully prepared.

Snake couldn't leave with comatose Medic because the medical equipment they needed to keep him comatose and under hypnosis (to make Medic believe he's Snake) is in the hospital.

Also, because Medic would be an easy target outside the hospital. It was the best place for him to stay since literally the entire world was dangerous.

The reason Snake wore the bandages and fake eyes/face was to prevent any fuckups with Medic's hypnosis; Medic is supposed to believe he's Big Boss, so seeing the real Big Boss's face would screw with the hypnosis.
