LW 1.3 got a lot better, no more sending 1-2 man squads and evaccing before the fight even began

How? I mean, they weren't super powerful and a solid 6 man squad could hold their own honestly too-well. That being said, their more supportive role plus the spawning waves of enemies did make this final mission much more engaging then XCOM 1.
