I'm a fan of the game, had it on release and I can tell you exactly what went wrong.

First of all, they tried to release Battleborn as a full priced competitor to Overwatch. This was foolhardy, as the games could have coexisted with a better release window.

Upon release, Battleborn had an assortment of expected issues with balancing, but it also had most of the heroes locked behind a wall of XP or Microtransactions. It was infuriating, because this 60-80$ purchase was now at least twice as much to enjoy fully.

Combine those with the bad press they incurred and the game was basically DoA. And it's a shame, because overwatch is a good game.

Please buy this game. It would mean a lot to the devs if you did, and the community would grow larger allowing a big playerbase as a result. It's not a bad game, it just had a bad launch but we fixed the problems. Gearbox made a mistake at first, and they're wrong in that, but they atoned for their mistakes and everything is alright now. It's not a bad game, and Randy is a pretty badass dude, I met him at a convention. So please, take my message into consideration.
