gman is an alien sent to defeat the combine through gordon. Once gordan defeats the combine/other aliens and gains control gman is gonna take control and do the ol' switcheroo and become the new protagonist.

Ep. 3 is so predictable that valve was like fuck it "were not gonna make the game now because the story line is too easy and anything else would be overdone"

G-man is not a vortigaunt, human, alien or god.

G-man is the representation of change in time and space. Like Gordon is the constant in any Hal Life game, G-man's characters fits more with the Greek letter Delta which represents change of any changeable quantity, in mathematics and the sciences (more specifically, the difference operator)

Well, like any good G-Man, he's working in the shadows. The combine are still clearly enough of a threat to him that they cannot know that he is meddling.

Basically his goal is to leave the combine scratching their heads going "How the fuck did this guy pull all of this off?"
