I'm only a few hours into Berseria. It's a bit better than I had expected, but it seems like they designed the combat system so that you would just mash through it. Maybe there's more finesse to it later and I just haven't gotten far enough. I really dislike having attacks on all face buttons and those 4 arte chains. It's so frustrating not being able to use the arte you want whenever you want. Hopefully they go back to being able to map 16 artes to one arte button and the right stick like in Xillia and Vesperia PS3 with the next game.

Also, I tried to play Rokuro for a bit, but the AI really couldn't play Velvet for shit. Through several battles it just kept activating her break soul, only to run away and drain all her HP without doing anything. Anyone else had this happen? I had to take over Velvet again because the AI was so bad.

Velvet and her brother, who has become a god and the final boss basically end up in a situation where he needs to be sealed away, and she decides to do so by being with him and devouring him, while he's devouring her at the same time, creating a sort of loop. Just look at each of them, it's a pain to the eyes because of how drastically different their color and pattern themes are. Fucking just try looking from velvet to eleanor.

She's OBSCENELY brighter than her like ridiculously brighter, they should have toned down or normalized the pallets and the designs.

Am I doing something wrong? I can't remember how long I've played for but it wasn't long ago that I got Eleanor, but I just can't continue playing. I have no idea how the battle system works, I just spam Velvet and always win. Every other character is a fucking mystery to play as to the point it's starting to bore me.

I really want to finish this but I can't help that I'm doing something terribly wrong and removing the fun from the game that everyone else seems to be having but me

Well then I guess this is where I bring up an interesting fact about Phi in Zestiria. Turns out, he turned into a hellion on his own accord because he wanted to find out more about humans. Phi took that gamble hoping that hoping that someone like Sorey would be born to help him get back. Sorey and the Zestiria party were aware of it (probably because of the Earthen Historia) and that's why none of the seraphim ever once treat purifying Maotelus as an act of self sacrifice. They knew that he was himself and that he would save them from turning into hellions.
