Contra Shattered Soldier had a canon timeline. Basically Contra 1 and 2 Bill and Lance go and stop an alien invasion/war going on. The Gaemboy game Operation C involces I think Bill and differnt sqaudron going to stop another invasion. Contra 3 is the final battle of sorts but after that there is some other mission Bill and Lance go on and Lance ends up dying with Bill being blamed for murdering him. Bill is improsned for hundreds of years. Hard Corps takes place with the a new team trying to stop Colonel Bahamut. Then Shattered Soldier takes place with Bill being released from prison trying to stop some Illuminati group from controlling the world. And that's where it ends. Neo Contra and any other game afterwards is shit and ruined the story.
