Nahua is basically the larger group of cultures that the Mexica (again, see the explanations I posted in the post you are responding to) belonged to, and "Nahuatl" is the language that they and the other cultures in that group spoke. I'm not clear on if "nahua" just means "any culture that speaks nahuatl" or if it's a more taxonmic, though.

Both of my parents are Mexican, and I lived in Mexico briefly, but have lived almost my entire life in the US. I was in Mexico City, and the Uber driver was giving a bit of a tour on our way to the bar, and it was interesting the language he used to describe things. When talking about the Spanish conquest, it was in terms of "when we were conquered."

It's just odd to me, because as Mexicans, or people of Mexican heritage, we wouldn't exist had it not been for the conquest. Yeah, it's awful that several tribes and peoples were essentially wiped out, but as Mestizos, we are a product of that conquest. Had the Spanish never arrived, we wouldn't exist. Mexico, in its current state, wouldn't exist. (Granted, Mexico in its current state wouldn't exist without Carlso Salinas de Gortari, but that's an entirely separate can of worms.)
