All modern games are trash with few exceptions. Modern Japanese games are still a step above western but when you compare the classics to today, automata doesn't hold a candle to if nier, p5 is not as good as p2,p3,p4, botw isn't as good as oot, lttp, tp. You're right, but here's the difference, back then AAA meant something, back then both AAA, AA, and low budget games were great. Not all of them were amazing but they could stand side by side. For example, Final Fantasy VII, Timesplitters, and project Eden are all great games, One AAA, another AA, and another low budget. I could go back to play games I've never played in consoles I've never played and still have fun. But with ps4, switch, Xbox one? I'm not inclined to even touch all the low effort corporate trash that invests those consoles. There might be a gem here and there but back then the great games came out consistently instead of here and there.

The PS4 isn't even at 60 million. The Wii was at 67 million when the PS4 was at 53 million in the same time frame of their life cycles. The Switch is selling much faster than the Wii.
