Playing Scholar of the First Sin with a friend in co-op at the moment. I really dug DS2 on its release (but yes its one of the weaker entries overall, still fun tho) but I could never get into Scholar solo because of its difficulty spikes and uneven route. Playing co-op and dual wielding has made it one of the most fun times I've had in the series to date, however.

See if you like DS1 first though bro.

scholars is def worth it for the pvp. no infinite rolls, more build variety, pvp is more encouraged, you can actually punish chuggers, it isn't always a 3v1 gank. only thing dragging it back is soul memory but you can just use mules to build new pvp chars quickly. you can get constant invasions in the right place and the arena is always filled with people, and iron bridge still has plenty as well. the pve is definitely the worst but i wouldnt go as far as to say you should skip it. the dlc's areas are on a higher level than the base game as well

Play DS1 + DLC, then rush through DS2 so you can play the DLC (the base game is abysmal) then play DS3 + DLC

go play dark souls 3 now, theres a lot of online players who makes the game more versatile than old dark souls 1

well i don't really go to iron bridge often and i havent in the last month so i probably just got lucky the few times i went. i don't really care because the arena is very active

Dark Souls 1 is literally the only game in the series worth playing, including Bloodborne. I'd say Demon's Souls is too, but the build variety is so limited in comparison to later games, and the playerbase so small, that the time for playing DeS is long past. DaS2 is utter trash, DaS3 is only a slight cut above 2, and Bloodborne is somehow more limited, linear and simplistic than even Demon's. Just play DaS1. Forever.
