Why GTA IV is so comfy compared to GTA V?
>>
comfy is a word which doesn't even have a meaning anymore
>>
>>379171280
stfu
>>
Late 2000's New York is comfier than mid-2010's Los Angeles
>>
It's not, your cars swerve all over the damn road at the slightest bit of speed
>>
>>379171181
Everything has more weight, the cars, the weapons, the characters movements.
The euphoria engine mas interaction way more vivid.
Even though they're going for a "New York" re-skin the low amount of cars and pedestrians make it feel like a small city and it's generally pleasing to travel through.
>>
>>379171705
This basically

>>379171181
they're both comfy. i've spent a lot of time on foot in both games and V definitely has the better ambiance.
>>
>>379171181
I'll explain what's actually happening: GTA V is one of the most popular games right now, so you see it as an inferior game, and feel comfort in a not so popular game like GTA IV like the outsider weirdo you are.
>>
>>379171634
they "fixed" that in tbogt.
>>
Brown game with shit controls=comfy. I can't wait for rdr2 if only because it will be rid of this terrible engine
>>
>>379171181
Bleak color pallet, always cold or rainy, quality radio channels, good story and good characters, game has a certain sense of humor and charm that just isn't there in V.
>>
>>379171970

calm down, no need to be hurt.
>>
>>379171970
>I'll tell you how you think!
>>
>>379171181
Every time I try to go back to IV I quit after I fly out the windshield a few times. The overall gameplay is not as much fun as other games in the series.
>>
>>379171181
If IV was updated with Vs combat system and weapons, it would shit all over V.

The only thing V has over IV is combat, weapons and planes. Everything else a shit. No matter how many times I try to replay V, I can't get past the first few opening missions.

Game needs an expansion badly.
>>
I like IV and V, but IV allows me to fool around and get away with it.
The cops in V will try to execute you for looking at them and you're constantly evading them, unless you use cheats.

Exploring Los Santos is fun, but V was mostly eye candy
>>
>>379171181
because LA is a garbage dump with no culture
>>
>>379171181
how is a blurry grey mess is comfy?
>>
>>379173182
>V
>combat system

You hit a pedestrian and they're immediately gone. V is the game that got rid of the combat system after SA, VCS and IV had their own approaches with it.

Are you talking about gun gameplay perhaps?
>>
>>379171181
It's not? iv was a wreck.
>>
>>379171181
GTA V is big, cold and soulless. Every single thing you see and hear is a joke, all subtlety and surprise is thus thrown out of the window. There's no room for anything serious or relatable in the entire game. Sure, they made an amazing game world with fantastic vehicles and everything you'd ever want. But you can't do anything in that world without getting that cringeworthy satire rubbed in your face and rammed down your throat around every corner. That's what's genuinely irritating about GTA V and why I feel like it's less charming than the previous games.
>>
>>379171181
They clearly put more effort in a single district of LBC (Broker, Bohan, etc) than the whole map of GTA IV.
>>
>>379171705
weight is the perfect way to describe it, plus the car destruction is gorgeous and lends so much to the physicality of the world (not to mention being able to ragdoll people by running into them)
>>
>>379173893
What combat system? Every GTA just locks onto the enemy and you shoot them. 5 just feels better than 4 with no bullet sponges
>>
>>379171181
>Why GTA IV is so comfy compared to GTA V?
Because the writers had not heard all the butthurt from people who hate gta4 because Nico doesnt have a dubstep gun and jetpack. After they did, they figured they would give up on the plot and appeal more to the ADD ridden 12 year old audience.
>>
>>379171181
It's too different from the rest of the series, in a bad way. However it literally has the best gameplay in the series, but more as a tech demo. It's pretty sad that they ruined it in V.
>>
>>379171705
Liberty City feels much more... sincere I guess would be the word than Los Santos. I don't like the Californian design; the filth and intimacy of LB is a lot more enjoyable to me.
>>
>>379171181
It isn't. Liberty City is grey, dirty and all looks the same. Not to mention the awful control physics.

GTA 5>GTA SA>GTA VC>the rest>>>>GTA 4
>>
>>379174874
so are you angry at people that expected a GTA game?
>>
GTAIV physics engine was the shit. I was so dissapointed it got dumbed down in V.

But IV had less weight than everything before it. The driving just feels floaty. Characters move like there's no gravity
>>
>>379175556
GTA SA > GTA IV > GTA VC > GTA V
>>
>>379171634
You can fix that with a mod.
>>
>>379175757
Like driving a fucking boat
>>
>>379171181
It's the other way around
>>
>>379173981
in terms of popularity and optimization, sure. But it trumps V's single player in a lot of ways, mostly because of the quality and content SP offers. Not to mention the two expansion packs that were also short yet damn fun and expounded the story of the original even further.
>>
>>379175514
LC is more dense. People forget that 4 was R* first forray into the new timeline and more importantly the bew consoles. Of course 5 would build on feedback and experience they gained from producing 4. That being said, they made LS seem artificially bigger by having a large map of mostly empty space that is never used in missions. The laziest district in 4 was probably the New Jersey knock off. The lack of any real detail there seems like the same lack of detail in most of LS. Sure they put some extra effort into the Chinese theatre, but unless it was a major tourist destination, they didnt give a fuck about it. Modern R* is lazy as shit and would rather produce more shark cards than actual content and games. Theyre becoming valve
>>
>>379175556
VC>3>SA>2>5>1>4
FTFY
>>
>>379175964
It's a primarily-water environment. Cars literally drive like boats.
>>
>>379172202
Nothing wrong with that. It often takes a third party perspective to provide insight. People lie to themselves more often that not.
>>
Doesn't take 5 sec driving through city.
5 got awful road design.
>>
>>379171508
la is never comfy
>>
>>379175941
GTA 4 is objectively the worst 3D GTA game. Only butthurt contrarian PCfags disagree.

>>379175964
This. It's unplayable. You can't even take a turn without slowing down to 0km/h.

bad taste
>>

That's because the actual speed of movement around the map was slow
GTAV is more realistic

>>
Did they mod crouching into gta5 yet? Or maybe some interiors at least?
>>
>>379176265
>You can't even take a turn without slowing down to 0km/h.
Like in real life then.
Drifting is highly effective in gta4.
>>
>>379176416
I don't care about realism, I care about enjoying the experience more. And I remember the original SA much better than V's. Travelling by road on SA was always so fucking fun and comfy
>>
>>379176306
Wait it's that small?
So San Andreas map was actually large?
>>
>>379176596
Nice try, but I used to be mechanic. You can't tell me shit about cars. You can easily take a turn at 60km/h.

Yep, they used movement blur to make the cars seem super fast even though the top speeds were very limited. Also there were no good straight roads from place to place, the game always forced you to take a detour or otherwise slow down to make distances seem longer.
>>
>>379176746
Yep. They used a lot of neat trick to make it seem bigger. For example, slowing down your car's speed while the screen misled you to believe you were actually gaining speed. Or how every road is interconnected to make sure there were no long roads that just went straight. There were a lot of connected alleyways in the cities to make the cities more interesting to explore.
>>
>>379171181
because of the age you were when you played it
>>
>>379176892
That kind of ingenuity is lacking in today's industry. I don't care if it was an illusion; as long as it felt real it worked.
>>
The fact that gang warfare and drug dealing didnt return from chinatown wars shows how fucking lazy the devs are
>>
>>379177217
Hell the lack of enterable buildings in GTA V still irks me
>>
>>379176249
You must not remember the 90's riots. Truly a glorious time

Drug dealing was my favorite part of the game. I made over 60 grand in an hour when my cousin lent me his game while we were having dinner at his place.
>>
>>379176395
Its objectively the best GTA and best 80's themed game period. The writing and voice acting is amazing and the setting is great in general. If you think otherwise you have stronger nostalgia for said game because it was your first GTA.

>inb4 VC was my first GTA
"No!". GTA 2 was my first game of the franchise.
>>
>>379171181
They're both shit compared to VC and SA

Because in GTA IV you could go online and play a game of Cops and Robbers while driving a motorcycle onto a subway overpass and then get a 6* wanted level with your friend and try to make it across the map on an airport luggage cart

Meanwhile in GTA V you can go online and watch advertisements for $130 shark cards for a pretend ferrari in order for a bunch of British chumps to buy real ferraris

>>
>>379178185
SA had everything VC had and more. Every single posterior GTA has tried to cram in features that starred in SA but they'd never been able to fit them all.
GTA V went back to San Andreas rather than Vice City because even Rockstar knew that the magic was in SA.
>>
>>379178032
What's this? Time to walk across the map?
>>
>>379178185
>flat roads
>tiny map

>>
>>379177819
Arguably SA was a better game, but GTA 3 was a lot more impactful and remarkable game in the franchise. Practically as good 2D->3D transition as possible while retaining the spirit of the game and everything that made GTA's great.

>>379178521
GTA 3 is just very barebones compared to the games that came after. It's very important in video game history though.

>>
>>379179371

>>
>>379179371
this faggot didn't google hard enough for an gfwl-less experience, plus, it didn't even require me to sign up for a social club account. You're loss, buddy
>>
>>379177297
What pisses me off the most are the fully modelled interiors that are only used in missions, like Tequi-la-la.
>>
>>379177592
>Because in GTA IV you could go online and play a game of Cops and Robbers while driving a motorcycle onto a subway overpass and then get a 6* wanted level with your friend and try to make it across the map on an airport luggage cart
But you can do all that in GTA V, minus the six stars.
>>
I personally enjoyed V more because the missions felt more varied than just driving to a warehouse and shooting people there.
>>
>>379171181
Is it possible to still add mods to this? I heard IV recently got a patch to get it to run better but it ended up breaking a bunch of mods as well.
>>
>>379171181
It isn't, I'm replaying both right now. The aiming and general movement is crap, the cars drive terribly, the engine can hardly keep up with driving at high speeds, to the point where it has to slow you down. I know you get a microchub perpetuating the myth that GTA V is much worse than IV every day, but posting it over and over doesn't make it true.
And being able to climb everything doesn't put it ahead of the curve.
I wish either of them had proper gibbing, though.
>>
>>379180605
There's a way to downgrade it.
>>
I liked the protagonists of V except Trevor a lot more than Niko tbqh. I especially like to pinpoint the Sopranos influences @ Michael.
>>

>GTA 3 is just very barebones compared to the games that came after.
I'd say it's ridiculously inventive compared to the games that came before, not even in the same series. It was one of the best transitions from 2D to 3D ever made.
And that city was wonderful, probably one of the best maps in the series.
