Don't listen to the faggots shitting on CoH 2. The game was fixed 2 years ago for the most part. What CoH 2 lacks compared to 1 is that the voice acting and campaigns are inferior. Also the UI is at first visually very cluttered. But gameplay-wise its a huge improvement.

That's because CoH is the only kind of strategy game where battles, even small ones, tend to be brutal and personal. When someone rages in this game you can bet your ass he's pissed off. Every single goddamn unit matters in the game, every captured zone matters. It's not a APM clickfest like StarCraft. You will however click like a fucking idiot behind your expensive tank to save it from AT cannon fire, hoping it doesn't fuck it up. So it's very tense.

Played CoH1&2 for ages that I've gotten burnt out on it, men of war voice acting and animation is so clunky compared to CoH but the damage model on vehicles is far better.
There aren't many decent ww2 RTS games out there that are larger scale.
I remember having a blast with the C&C generals ZH Blitzkrieg II the finest hour mod and some of the ye olde sudden strike games. The call ins were fun and devestating and the map zoom level was not in your face retarded.

Nah, as long as you start with teamgames like 3 vs 3 or 4 vs 4 you should be fine. Playing Wehrmacht is the easiest faction to understand. OKW is the favourite faction for tryhard faggots, so expect a lot of butthurt from those guys, they have expensive units. Soviets are sort of like Wehrmacht, but rely on weaker units and have no static defenses. USA is hard to understand at first, mainly because they rely on strong infantry, but weak tanks and have a weird Officer unlock system. Also, Brits are the most hated factio, because they have the GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING BOFORS.

Don't lose your units, that's the most important fact.

Wehrmacht follows the same design principle as the one from CoH 1. You got your basic average infantry, weak but reliable engineers with MP40s, a strong machinegun crew, amortar crew (solves stalemates early on), and a sniper for picking off enemy MGs and expensive infantry in your first two buildings.

You just go to the next stage by upgrading your main building. Wehrmacht basically adapts the best to the enemy because they have strong counters. Wehrmacht is a jack of all trades faction. This causes problems later on again Elite infantry mostly. Grenadiers suck at close combat, while Panzergrenadiers suck at long range. So you have to find a balance with them.
Also they have very strong tanks to choose from.

I cannot deny that it is in fact a little paywalled. However all you want in the end are the commanders. You get 2000 points for a win, 1500 for a loss, and for 6000 you get a random item, like loot points or sometimes even a commander. I got around 4 commanders drops over the span of my game time. If you want to get TWO commanders fast, just go to your options screen, hit the register link and Relic will give you enough loot points for two commanders.

If you want suggestions, if you play USA, take the commander with the Pershing or the Calliope.
If you play Wehrmacht, take one with a Tiger I.
If you play OKW, take the one with the Ostwind or the Sturmtiger.
If you play Soviet, eh I dunno they have so many. Just pick one that got cool abilities.
Brits ... I dunno.

Terrible advice. Soviets only have two or three good commanders and whether you win or lose depends directly on the commander you choose. If you don't have money to buy the good commanders stay away from SOV.
