Also games being more accesible made a lot of people stop pirating as well, not all pirates were dirt poor or just cheap people, some of us were always willing to pay and give back to our hobby as long it was something we could consider a fair price, which is now possible, unless you don't have a job, there are very few valid excuses for being a pirate nowadays.
