So I just picked this up, which mods do I need?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Bug fixes and compatibility mods.
Don't install any """enhanced""" graphics mods. What's the purpose of high(er) res textures, if they replace genuine Morrowind tapestries with generic rags?
>>
>>379151203
Do I need any of those for the GOG version?
>>

>>
>>379150993
Get the Morrowind Code Patch and probably the Morrowind Graphics Enhancer.
>>
>>379151253
Is it on GOG now? Honestly, I dunno, some GOG games came with resolution fixes, but mostly the older ones. I guess Morr still needs the mods.
>>
None. Play the game as it was meant to be played.
>>
>>379151427
I don't think the game was meant to have broken enchanting and pick pocketing.
>>
>>379151480
How are those broken?

>>
>>379151863
I actually made the thread wondering about mods for stability. I was just playing Gothic and needed to install 4 patches and sacrifice a small child to make it run.
>>
>>379150993
I definitely advise against installing any graphic mods (except for fixes).
>>
>>379151729
Pickpocketing doesn't take your sneak skill into account properly, so it's pretty well impossible to do it under max skill. Enchanting anything decent without abusing alchemy is similarly difficult/impossible.
>>
>>379151982
Do you mean pickpocketing specifically or stealing anything in general? I rarely used pickpocketing if ever, aside from that one quest that required you to do so.
And I remember enchanting some nice constant effect items without any mods. Well, I might have been abusing alchemy at the time, I don't quite remember.
But yeah, if it's the kind of broken that handicaps the player, he'd probably need some mods to fix those skills.
>>
>>379150993
>which mods
>>
>>379152147
Pickpocketing specifically is actually legitimately broken. I might be incorrect about enchanting being awful, but its been a while since I've played it.

Morrowind Code Patch is probably all you need

It does remove some of the games "endearing character" though, like NPCs decking themselves out in the best gear you sell them or drinking 13 health potions in under a second upon being hit
>>
>>379152358
Not that guy. But you're definitely wrong about enchanting. It was Oblivion who killed it not Morrowind.

You can make a life drain sword or something early on for cheap and be almost invincible provided you don't get one shotted by something.
And late game you can make rings to up all your attributes to 200+.

All you need is a crazy, crazy amount of money.
>>
>>379152558
It has a checklist, you can leave those "endearing" traits in if you really want to.
>>
>>379152558
>like NPCs decking themselves out in the best gear you sell them
Why would it remove this?
>>
>>379152626
Dunno about proper enchanting, but when I played Oblivion I made myself an enchanted armor set with 100% chameleon with those orbs you get from Oblivion portals.
>>
>>379152626
I meant enchanting it yourself, not having an vendor do it.
>>
>>379152558
So if I just install this it should run well on win10?

No save corruption and whatnot?
>>
>>379150993
Oh, another advice just in case: the difficulty really starts to drop after you hit a couple of dozen levels. This means:

don't read up on builds and guides, not worth spoiling it
don't abuse alchemy and vendor restocking
don't be discouraged if you don't get the +5 bonus on levels
>>
>>379150993
If you're getting the GOTY edition (which you most likely are), then either uncheck the expansions under the files options in the launcher. Or I think the Code Patch has fixes for the expansion tie-in quest triggers, check those boxes in the patch installer then.
Otherwise you'd have to fight an overleveled NPC which drops top tier armor, in case you manage to defeat them.

So that you can buy them back later I guess
As once they put them on they will never willingly part with it unless you tempt them into equipping something better

>>379152748
Shit, dunno about win10 specifically. Worked fine on win7 with just MCP
If you run into anything weird you could always check for a solution here, it hasn't failed me yet

install MGSO for a less dated experience and watercolor textures to save the original feel of the game. Thats all you need
>>
Don't install Overhaul
>>

Yeah, those fuckers
>>
Just copy the game data and play it via OpenMW.
No issues for me there.
Also why does this game suck in the terms of combat?
The story is great, the world is great, the quests are not dumbed down like in Skyrim or Oblivion, but I've obtained some powerful warhammer and I couldn't proceed. Even with God Mode I had to hit the guy 1000 times. Later I figured something about hit chance.
What a bullshit.
>>
>>379156832
Developers expected people to read the manuals back then
>>
>>379156832

What's the point of openmw

Free and open source software that fixes a lot of stuff that's buggy in original engine.
>>379156935
Manual it is, then. Combat still sucks if it requires you to read manual though.

Don't use any graphic or content mods yet

every neo-/v/ Morrowind player in a nutshell

Just picked up Skyrim!
