How do I get good at Dragon Knight?
I enjoy him as a character, visually and sound-wise, his last hit sound is possibly my favourite in the game.
I enjoy his gameplay, because soaking up damage and outliving people appeals to me a lot.
But I have an absolute dogshit winrate at him, something like 4/19.

i dunno what to tell you, i'm 4.7k and don't really care about the hero so i haven't touched him at all in like 5 patches but he's one of those braindead picks like wk where i just click on people and occasionally use a spell or two and win all the time. checked my dotabuff and i'm apparently 16-2 as him which is actually kind of surprising as i don't consider myself a particularly good or knowledgeable dk.

my build tends to be soul ring > armlet > shadow blade > utility but if i feel like i need to carry harder i usually go silver edge > bkb > ac > heart/octarine/shivas/skadi depending on the match. you don't want to play a passive game with him, as soon as you can you need to tell your supports/offlane to group up and run the fuck at people and kill them and start taking towers whenever your ult is up. dk's kit is super good early/mid game so he can stay relevant even if he's underfarmed but late game he doesn't do shit even if he's six slotted. my average game length with him is 38 mins so you need to keep the tempo up and go for objectives or you fucking LOSE, both of my losses are past 50 minutes and even though i have one incredible game where we got mega'd in like the first 20 mins but held for another hour and eventually won i will say that i didn't do shit that game other than clear waves with ult/mjollnir and it was my team that won it for us.

the miss chance change is kind of gay but i feel like solar crest is particularly nice on him, treads medallion shadow blade solar crest might be good if you're okay at farming and can have all of those before 20 mins on a somewhat slow farming hero and abuse tread switching to keep your mana full. if you're low mmr i'm almost certain the reason you're losing is lack of pressure and poor positioning which is more of a fundamental issue than hero specific. just watch replays and don't be a pussy but don't go full retard either, if they have burst damage you need to initiate on whoever is dealing it.

I like that faster lineups are viable again after the high ground/shrine nerf and increased importance of laning. Snowballing from the laning phase with fast paced caveman Dota is always going to be the most fun to play. Worried about their strong carries? Worried that they have big team fight ultimates? Just be faster. Get your core items by 15 minutes, push them in and choke them out.

At least in 4K and 5K people tend to pick/play too greedy to deal with it. Any time I see the enemy carry going for a Midas I'm just laughing because it will be an easy and quick stomp. Of course the reason this works is that I play with friends, I don't think randoms can play organised like that.
